It is a dead ringer for my 135i coupe, save for the sole fact that it has a pale grey interior rather than a brown interior:
www.millenniumheroes.com/cars/bmw-135i-m-sport-for-sale/It's a manual, it's painted the same relatively rare paint shade, it has exactly the same kitchen-sink combination of options (including pretty rare ones like the chromeline exterior, poplar wood dash, and electric sunroof) and the same optional MPerformance exhaust. And, having checked my records, it was even first registered on exactly the same day (4 March 2009). It's such a twin, I'm even wondering if it is my car having had a seat transplant for someone who didn't like brown seats!? I'm assuming no-one would ever bother but....someone did bother updating the rear lights to the later versions.

That sounds far too much of a co-incidence to be anything other than your old car with different coloured seats.

What did you think of the changes?

Says it was registered on 04/03/09. Now that would be some coincidence...

What did you think of the changes? I usually hate "paedo's shoe light grey" leather. Although it doesn't look that bad in those photos. And the later rear lights are nicer.
It also doesn't have sun protection glass (which mine didn't).
I'm just not sure whether I believe anyone would go to the trouble of re-trimming a 135i coupe. I was looking at the seats and trying to decide whether they looked like the standard rhino-hide grain Dakota leather or not.

Do you know what plate the car reverted to after you sold it? If so just call them and ask.

It wasn't on my plate when I had it because that was on the Z1 - it was EO09BWK.
Which for years never gave a result on Reg Check because it was presumably then on someone else' private plate, but yet lo and behold I have now checked and suddenly that does now come up again as a blue BMW...
...it must be it...it's recorded as having an MoT last month with 48,366 miles on the clock...
How absolutely weird!
Still, nice to see it looking in good nick! And with a pretty low mileage borne out by the MoT history. Were I to have kept it, it would likely have around 80k on the clock.

Judge for yourself whether they improved the interior:

Very strange, blue with saddle brown interior is such a classic combo, why would you change?
The interior colour is listed as Boston Leather, which I always thought was brown anyway?

No, Boston is the grade or type of leather. As opposed to Dakota for example.
So the brown was called “Terra” and that grey is I think possibly “pearl grey” from a special edition (or a non-standard re-trim).

Ask for details of the service history, that would confirm it, interior seat swap quite straightforward

That brown is just a bit too brown so prefer the update. Sorry. Still looks in cracking order

Quite impressed by the company it's keeping on that dealer's stocklist!

I wonder if the interior was replaced through choice or due to damage? It seems excessive to change it otherwise.

I emailed them earlier in the week saying I was an acquaintance of a previous owner and was interested, but the interior colour had been changed, was there a reason, eg the car had been vandalised or personal taste?
Not had a reply.......

It looks like they've sold it already. I cast an eye over their stocklist relatively frequently, so it didn't hang around long.

I wonder if the interior was replaced through choice or due to damage? It seems excessive to change it otherwise. I remember talking to a salesman in a Jaguar dealership and I mentioned that my dad once had an XJ6 with tweed seats (don't ask!) instead of leather. He said that any Jags that came in on part ex without leather were sent straight to the re-trimmers as they just didn't sell otherwise. It could be that the dealership thought the BMW would sell quicker and at a higher price if it had a relatively cheap re-trim (they might have access to a second hand interior from a scrapped vehicle). The brown is, IMO, nicer but there is probably a larger pool of buyers who would prefer, and pay more for, the grey interior.

It must have been the snottiest Jag ever, Flat red paint, cloth seats, a manual with frisbee wheels. It was a typical company car list special as he forgo every option so he could have the 3.6 over the 2.9 and also added air con.

I think that even with airbags, etc it's still fairly easy to swap a set of seats over so they might've got some nice (!) grey ones online and dropped them in simply for resale purposes.
I prefer the brown too.

The company chauffeur told my dad that leather seats shined the arses of all your suit pants.

Well of course apparently Brenda insists on West of England cloth behind, with leather only up-front...

I was thinking about this earlier. Apparently you can buy kits to repaint leather. It may be an explanation for what happened here.
