It looks lower than the current one - more of a tall hatchback than a SUV. Difficult to tell in the photos though. IMO more appealing than the current one - got a touch of Porsche from A pillars back. In fact, cover the grille and it has a lot Porsche.

Looks like a tall Focus. I guess that was the plan, though?

Doesn't look too horrific by SUV standards. Still no real-world reason to pick one over a Focus though.

Big improvement, but in doing so, there appears to be less of a reason for choosing one over a hatchback unless I’m missing something?

Doesn't look too horrific by SUV standards. Still no real-world reason to pick one over a Focus though. A real world reason would be the higher seating position being a positive boon to tens of thousands of older drivers, among an ageing driving population. Another one would be a higher back seat making it easier for parents to put kids into child seats.

Big disappointment as far as I am concerned. More rake angle on the roof and tailgate meaning less "boxy" space inside the load area. The rearmost side windows look very small compared to those on the current-shaped one.
It's said to be wider than the current model too - give us a break, the current one is already so wide that I have to fold the mirrors to get it through a standard UK garage door opening, or through 6ft6in width restriction posts. Rear lights look tragically small for such a large vehicle too.
I don't think I will be rushing out to change to this when the PCP on mine comes to an end next year

How often do you fill the car to the roof anyway? Can't think I ever have.

It looks like the love child of a Focus and an X1.

Can’t work out if it’s surprisingly small or the headlights are ridiculously big!

It does feel like a new trend where SUVs/crossovers are now extensions of regular hatch/saloon models, in much the same way estates used to do. Same family design and looks in a different shape. I actually had an early sneak peek of this just before I left the company, albeit the Chinese version which has a different (and to me, uglier) grille.

I prefer the look of the front of the Chinese version
Still don't like the profile or rear end though

The Chinese front end makes it look less like a Focus.
