Our new MINI adventure has begun, or should I say Maxi adventure. It is about 21 cm longer than an Austin Maxi. First impressions are very good indeed. Much quieter than the old one, with a more comfortable ride, but still with very sharp steering. Seems a bit quicker as well, and certainly more flexible at lower revs. Loads of room inside, even passing the sit behind myself test. It is knee deep in gadgets, but the BMW iDrive seems to be fairly intuitive, so it shouldn't take long to learn. Just been for a blast around the lanes, with the sunroof open - I think I am going to get to like this car a lot!

That's a really top spec you've got there. Enjoy it.

It looks like a nice colour combo. I still struggle with the looks of MINI's models and that one does nothing to change that for me, the dashboard in particular. That said, I hope you enjoy it and that it performs reliably.

Lovely, I've got a huge soft spot for MINIs.

Cooper S for me with a bit less chrome and a 4 cylinder engine, but otherwise that’s very nice and a a great spec.

I like the colour and the bonnet stripes. I think the dashboard is a big step forward over the 2 previous generation of MINI, but am not sure about the aesthetics of the head up display thingy. Is the HUD any good?

That does actually look good, and I’m not a fan of grey cars! MINI design is now very grown up yet the move to a more mature design language suits it quite well. I’m sure you will enjoy it.

Obviously I salute the choice of car and the choice of colour! The dash is one of the nicest things about the Clubman - I love the interior of ours - very similar to this one but with burgundy leather - best thing is that there not a trapezoid shape anywhere! The quality of the interior of the F series is a huge step up from the R series. It’s the roomiest car I’ve ever had - but then again, there’s nothing Mini about the dimensions. Had both my grandsons in it tonight, dissolving in giggles when I pressed the ‘fast button’!
