Good news she is OK, the rest is a pain but nowhere in the scheme of things. Fingers crossed for the insurance folk to do a decent job and get her sorted. +1

All that matters is she’s OK. The rest is just hassle.

All that matters is she’s OK. The rest is just hassle. Glad she is ok, metal can be replaced or repaired These. In spades. Main thing, absolutely, is that she's OK. Everything else pales into utter insignificance. In time, maybe a bit of skidpan training?

Thanks chaps. A bit of gentle piss taking to add some humour is helping. She's rather sore and stiff today but, as already said, it could have been so much worse. Insurer (Admiral) has an annoying online method of reporting and they ring you back. We tried ringing but it just cut off part way through the menu system. Clearly another company diverting the bulk of their call handling via an initial online form. They did ring back about an hour later but I can't see what help that could be at the roadside. Plus she was in the bath at the time so we await a call back today. Having checked the policy again it seems the guaranteed courtesy car is only available if yours is in for repair, not a total loss. She might possibly get one until their assessor has seen it but it looks like we may have some transport issues to manage.

Just seen this. Glad she is OK. As already said, metal can be replaced. People can't.

As said before Stu, I’m glad she’s ok and it’s certainly something she’ll learn from which will ultimately make her a better driver.

Glad she's relatively OK. Insurers are a pain.

I'm so glad she's OK. It is a phone call everybody would hate to receive.
I think she should enjoy the remainder of her insurance policy, it might be tricky getting one for next year.

Insurance policy usually ends if its a full loss claim.

Insurance policy usually ends if its a full loss claim. I wasn't sure, having had no experience of a total loss claim before. She tried sorting it with them the other evening but got confused over it all. Dad will have to sort it this weekend! Anyway, a new car has been chosen and has arrived. Typically girly car and she has liked them from new and always wanted one. Very trendy, just right for a 22 year old... Fiat 500 Mirror Edition. 2018 18 plate with just under 9k miles. Based on the 1.2 Lounge with unique trim and added bits including a few quid's worth of Uconnect LIVE infotainment, manual AC, fixed pano roof, cruise, 16" alloys, all the safety gubbins including ESP and 7 airbags, etc. It's in Crossover Black metallic which will no doubt be a bugger to keep shiny! She loves it. Collected last night and driven today to work for the first time since the accident, so she was nervous but the new car helped with that I think. It's currently on a 5 day driveaway policy pending sorting out her own policy which is looking likely to be around 160 quid a month. Interior generic shot - hers has manual AC, not climate: There's an annoying issue with the car, though. We viewed it inside the Fiat dealer showroom, so the windows were down. We didn't drive it, driving a 1.2 120th edition instead to get a feel for the car but confident it was covered by warranty and their used car policy anyway. When we collected it the windows were down, and it was outside in the sun. On driving home she has noticed that the windscreen has two long scratches inside the glass, right in the driver's view and the driver's window has a load of scratches - it's a right mess really - on the inside. It's almost as thought someone has wiped the windows with a ring on or a gritty cloth. You can feel the scratches. So, due to that it will have to go back and she is waiting for contact from the sales guy. It's annoying to say the least but at the moment I will give them the benefit of doubt and allow them a chance to sort it. Anyway, apart from that it seems like a lovely little car and she is made up with it. Here's a couple of pics of the 107, which just make me glad she wasn't badly injured as it really could have been so much worse:

£160 per month insurance, ouch. To think I was disappointed not to insure the TT for less than £250 for the year.
The picture of the accident damage is terrifying, I'm so glad she's OK.
I also like the Fiat 500s, a bit of a bitch to work on apparently but, I have always found their drivers to be some of the most courteous on the road.

Not nice pics of the Pug, but it looks like it crumpled and deformed in all the right places.
Hope you can get everything else sorted with minimal fuss.
