Well we have a car that its maker says is black (but is actually very dark blue) and a white car, so I guess we aren’t imaginative...

I'd have chosen orange with a black roof for the Captur if I'd got my way but we ended up with blue with a white roof. Apart from that, I've just got whatever was in dealer stock that they offered a good deal on, so I'm not guilty of choosing a colour for my own car since 1998 ! And even then, money was so tight that I couldn't afford the "luxury" of metallic, so had to choose a "flat" colour, in the days when there used to be a significant choice as standard.

Not even close to being on trend but then again, happy not to be among the mass.

The Legacy was grey (bought in 2008, when apparently it was only 3rd most popular!) and my current steed is a fairly bright blue. I'd actually rather have had it in Skoda's bright metallic "apple" green, taking me outside the top 5, but I couldn't find one within spec.

The blue we chose for the Golf isn’t the one most people choose, so that’s something I guess and whilst silver is number 6, it’s a bit more than that. There isn’t a single car for sale on Autotrader in Pure Metal Silver.

Mine's black, and the one being delivered tomorrow to replace it is black, but since I get no say in colour I'm absolved of being a boring bastard.
Mrs Sacamano's Qashqai is grey so she's bang on trend I guess - although she wanted white but we couldn't get one with the panoramic roof.

My colour was a no cost option but only on three RS models so chances are there aren't any Ascari Blue cars on AT either. Blue has been in fourth for 5 years and was the last colour to top the chart by the looks of it, not that I actually got to choose it. There’s an Ascari Blue RS6 Performance on Autotrader. Really suits it.

Good to see an article from my local rag reaching the forum, I’m mid table with my red car and my wife is clearly more on trend as it reckons Orange is on the up.

Black for the 320, grey for the Micra, blue for the M5 and green for the Fiat.

There’s an Ascari Blue RS6 Performance on Autotrader. Really suits it. I just hazarded a guess. Think it was an RS6 and RS7 only colour until my little interloper came along. Might go take a look... I think it was an option on all the 'Performance' models.

There's another on there described as Vulcan Blue but it looks very similar. How do they come up with those names?

I'm keen on the Suzuki Jimny school of colour names, Bluish Black, for example.

There's another on there described as Vulcan Blue but it looks very similar. How do they come up with those names? Vulcan Blue was the title of an Gene Rodenberry unauthorised adult movie that did the rounds among Trekkies in the 90s. Something of an acquired taste among the Star Trek community it played to an audience of largely ear fetishists. So I'm told.

My wife's car manages to be "Bossanova White", which could equally be a film of ill repute.

I like bright blues - I like the Jaguar bright blue on XE's, that looks a bit like Ascari Blue.
Personally I've really enjoyed having a bright coloured car, for pretty much the first time ever after loads of grey, silver, dark blue, and so on. If the car is good looking, it works - I've also been very surprised that the dark metallic red doesn't look crap when it gets dirty, unlike black or dark blue... It hides dirt almost as well as grey or silver. Which given how infrequently I wash my cars, especially now I park in a public car park, suits me well!

I would have been quite keen on Aventurine Red or Ruby Red on my 4GC having been passed by a 435i GC that colour prior to getting mine, which looked really good. But as Individual colours, they cost the earth.

Our Shogun is bluey / grey metallic. Not sure what it was called after all these years. But with that colour we seem to have covered a lot of popularity bases.
I like that the XFR is red - Italian Racing Red I think it was called. They could hardly call it Ferrari red... and Porsche had already nabbed Guards Red some years ago.

^ How about Fire Engine red or Post Box red, or Traffic Light red or even Blood Red ?
Strawberry Jam red? There are a lot of red things in this world !
