My wife would bite your hand off for the new one (she doesn't like the colour of the blue one) but I can't see that happening. I need to save for retirement as quickly as possible.

Or work for JLR and get one for £20 a week! I know it will be more than that, but somewhat less than c£1k a month if you bought new. I’m surprised the government haven’t added this sort of thing to their BIK list. Back to the new car....must be good to want another, but it doesn’t make sense to me to have 2 identical cars and I prefer the Blue but the new one looks less beige than I thought it was so that’s definitely a good thing.

I'd still go for a black one.

Corris Grey for me, it’s the best colour for all LRs, but I think they’ve dropped that from the range?

Corris grey has been replaced by Eiger grey
A BIK is a benefit provided to the employee at a cost to the employer. These schemes (largely common across all OEMs) make good profits, hence no traditional BIK, although I do get taxed on a BIK due to the funding method on the blue one.
At the time of ordering, the SDV8 was the best car available, so why order something that you don’t like as much for the sake of difference ?
Anyway, the blue one will be replaced in due course by “ not a RRS “

Replacement for the Silicon Silver one has been collected (one year to the exact day) Identical spec (although this is a 20.5MY) and one of the very last SDV8 RRS ever built. No surprises on the colour (ordered in Feb, due to be built in March, then Rona visited......)

Very nice. It would be extremely rude to overlook the last of the SDV8's.

Very nice indeed. What's with the dark tinted headlight - or is that a trick of the light?

Very nice indeed. What's with the dark tinted headlight - or is that a trick of the light? They all do that sir. Even the big ones.

Yeah, it’s a cracking engine, rather special and unique (if you like big banger diesels). Even within the inner sanctum, I don’t think it’s talents are fully appreciated (or understood) and although I haven’t driven the new inline six diesel yet, I think it’s rather sad that V8 diesels are dying off.
I actually wanted an Indus Silver one (as they look fab), but the exec committee felt they had already been “ steered enough “ and Byron was the compromise.
Yes, the lights are tinted (quite moody).

I like that a lot and share your love of big, wafty diesels.

Quite boring update After 15 months with the SDV8, it has been replaced by a D300 AB Dynamic. The D300 uses the latest 3.0 straight six and on first acquaintance it is impressively smooth and quiet, it’s 39 ps and 90nm down on the V8, but the quoted weight is 150 plus kilos lighter so the overall difference should not be too noticeable. However, it is obvious from the get go that the car is lighter because of the way is responds from rest and turns into corners. There is a D350 tune of the six available, but for reasons only known to the product planners, the UK is the only diesel market where you cannot have the D350 in AB trim level. If you want a D350 here, you have to buy the HST, but since a HST is effectively a base model with a few choice options and silly black wheels, I didn’t get one in case anyone confused me with Puff Daddy.

Any differences other than the engine and weight reduction?

Shame about the engine, although it is all relative and I am sure by any other standard it is excellent. Great colour.

Not really, although the SDV8 had massive front brake callipers that were painted red and looked awesome, now they are smaller with a plain silver finish.
The spec is identical (Byron blue with ebony interior and grand black lacquer trim), but no surround camera pack this time (assume chip shortage), although they have added the digital tv (most pointless option ever).
If the new 3.0 is as peachy as has been suggested, then I don’t think the V8d will be greatly mourned, especially if that weight saving improves the pointy end and there are a few more mpgs offered.

A Range Rover just looks right. It's a pity you can't offer these to the forum when you've finished with them.

Agreed, digital TV is completely pointless. I've had it on my last 2 cars and probably watched it for no more than 10mins in total. The new 3.0 does get decent reviews and will be more economical, but I do like the V8ness of the SDV8, it really does sound good (inside) and goes well.

On the subject of V8ness, It is worth noting that the outgoing car did not sound as good as my first SDV8 (the 68 plate car that started this thread). I don’t know what changed, but that first car was throaty.
