Oh no !! A frowning frog grille and vertical fogs/DRLs against horizontal headlamps (as bad a styling faux=pas as the current Fiesta)

Car designers must be taking the modern equivalent of the weed that 1960's architects used to smoke - and we still can't get rid of some of their monstrosities.

Non-round wheelarches as well.
A post Guinness shit, rolled in glitter, then given wheels.

Just what on earth is going on with car designs and the front end these days? Leaving aside the square wheel arches (Toyota aping Jeep maybe?), that could almost be a pleasing shape. But then they graft a totally weird front end onto it.
Car design is all so "copy me" it seems. One person has an idea and it sort of works - or at least does not harm sales. And before you know it everybody jumps on the bandwagon. Then fashins change and things move elsewhere.
Massive grilles; ugly front ends; wanky exhaust shapes; full width rear lights strips; iPod screwed to dash interiors; privacy glass; silver plastiminium interiors. I am sure there are others too.
Back to the RAV4, the interior looks way better than the previous generation, so that's good.

I agree its not pretty but actually, on this particular occasion, I think we're maybe being a bit harsh.
In theory it's a Japanese car designed by a Japanese designer (I know it probably isn't but it could be) so it should be to their design principles. Same as in the old days you'd expect something like a BMW to be designed by a European and be pleasing to our eyes (compared to the ones now that are designed by a European but aren't pleasing!).
You just have to look at some of the Japanese domestic market cars over the years to see they have a different view to us so perhaps this new Rav4 is actually being true to its comapny's originators?

It's better looking than the current one but that is damning it with faint praise, somewhat. I'm not a fan of square wheelarches but kind of give Jeep a pass as it's part of their design "DNA". Sort them out on this and it'd be not half bad.

I like it. Then again I had a Prius so I guess my tastes are a bit eccentric.
At least it's a bit different, unlike the many humdrum samey samey crossovers from everybody else.

I've not got the willpower to watch the video, but you'd think they were two different cars if it weren't for the badge.

I've not watched the video, just seen the different front ends on my YouTube "front page"

The grey one is a huge improvement. Does look like a Ford, though.

Compared the the current Prius and C-HR that’s a reasonably tame design and not much different to a number of other models in the class.

It'd probably instantly look a lot better with silver wheels.
Why are they using a 3.5 litre Nissan engine when the current 370Z has a 3.7 - maybe the car uses, er, recycled parts?

There was one going for scrap in Stevenage the other night.

It'd probably been bent round a lamppost or something else solid.

Looks like the black car that pulled out was a Toyota GT86 from the video.
What's the blue one?
