It would be the kind of car that needs a very deep breath before you plant the throttle. Exciting in the extreme.

Bob S: Have you watched all the episodes yet? It's run flawlessly for several years. The amount of effort and dedication that went into it is remarkable

Bob's a purist. I don't see the point in building a car like that when you could just buy a drop top Corvette and spend your several years actually driving it.

But equally I haven't shagged Darcey Bussell but I know I'd prefer her to take the welders' boots off first. I'm not from Middlesbrough.

The LS engine weighs less than the Mazda lump so all the weight distribution hand wringers have nothing to complain about.
And weight distribution means nowt in the real world. It may be 50/50, but only when the car is sat still with nobody in it. Simply adding a driver alters it. A fat passenger alters it. Fuel alters it. A weeks shopping alters it. It's little more than pub bore bullshit used to sell cars.

The beauty of the MX-5 is that it is a fun, light roadster. So you drive down a windy coastal road, enjoying the sunshine and the wind in your hair, not actually going very fast at all.
The 86 takes away that sensation. It is built around the premise of drifting and tackling mountain roads, but unless you live up in the hills of Japan and have to head into the village every morning to deliver tofu, there's limited scope to have fun with it on a regular basis.

I'd like to get a 3 Series and put it on our corner weights and see whether the 50/50 claim is anywhere near true. There will likely be a very specific set of circumstances needed to reach the revered 50/50, possibly none of which will ever be achievable once the car is in motion and containing fluids.
None of us here are driving gods and would not be able to deduce where the weight was distributed in our cars. It only matters in racing cars, in the hands of racing drivers. For road cars, it is merely a selling point. If you can feel the perfect weight distribution in a road car, you're either a liar or a full-on racing driver. Or a journo, which is likely to be either or both.

I tend to agree with Blarno. For the average driver its completely irrelevent, hence why most 1 series buyers think their car is fwd. Even if they actually read the blurb about 50:50 weight distribution do you think they'd have the slightest possibility of explaining how it helps them?
