Our house was £15k cheaper because it has a car port instead of a garage. All the houses with garages end up having cars sat on the road outside because they don’t fit inside or, and is is more likely, the garage is full of junk. As ours would be if we had one so I’m happy not to give the wife another space to fill with crap that should ha e been got rid off long ago,

It's a real Jekyll and Hyde type car, which is my favourite bit. You can pootle around town in the Comfort setting and the throttle is a lovely linear thing that you really need to stamp on to get the car to wake up. Makes it really easy to drive sensibly. Stick it in Dynamic and it becomes a different car. The throttle is now super sensitive to the slightest input and the exhaust gets louder to emphasise that. The one drawback is that the steering weight changes between the two modes and the car doesn't have an individual mode which means you have to live with it changing... Was your Cupra a manual? The DSG version I have is just the same, it is really easy to drive slowly in "comfort" mode, and conversely almost impossible in Cupra!

The gearbox in mine is great, smooth, fast. I am still not convinced it is as fun to drive as a manual car would be, but for 80% of the time I use the car it is probably better?
It is too easy to drive fast, but somehow I don't feel quite as in control of it when really on it? Maybe I need to learn how to drive again...

Mine sometimes wouldn't change up when accelerating hard. I'd go for an overtake, the gearbox would kick down but then not change up again. I'd end up on the wrong side of the road on the engine limiter no longer speeding up and the car I was overtaking coming back past! Why didn’t you just pull the right paddle?

An accident, or intentionally?

Hopefully find out tomorrow... Fingers crossed you find out, but there won’t be a great deal you can do unless you’re able to persuade them to pay to get it fixed. If you’ve got proper support from the management team then the threat of dismissal will help.

We’ve had a couple of incidents on site over the last few months where I was convinced the police would be able to take action, but they didn’t seem to have many options. If you’ve got proper support from the management team then the threat of dismissal should help.

I shouldn't have needed to, it was an automatic! Agreed, but when it didn’t do what it was supposed to, you’ve got an instant way of fixing it before you get stranded on the other side of the road!

Hmm, very nice, would love to see that some time! Could do a mini meet in the New Forest if you fancy it? I reckon that might be around halfway between us? When the weather warms up a bit, though. Deffo - thought I'll be living in Newbury by then, so mid way probably involves some nice roads depending where in Wiltshire you live! I'd definitely need rid of the winter tyres beforehand, as while it's quite a laugh, it doesn't generate any sort of cornering G with them on.

Had the car machine polished on the drive today by a chap who charged me the princely sum of £80. Bargain! He said that the clearcoat on VAG cars is quite soft, so scratches easily and that he'd already done four other cars this week. A Skoda blue that I can't remember the name of is the worst one apparently. Shush! I don't want to be hearing that!
Saying that though, my paintwork so far seems pretty good.

It wasn't a metallic one. Denim Blue is starting to ring bells? Whew!

He definitely said it was a free, no cost non metallic blue. I looked up Denim Blue and that does appear to be a metallic, so maybe not that. Could be Energy Blue or similar... Yes, I think Denim Blue is quite markedly paler than mine, which is Raceblau.

Our pool car is a boggo Octavia in that colour and it is much darker than either denim or race blue and very much non metallic so probably a bit thinner. I believe it’s the only free colour too which may explain why it’s thinner. The Tornado red paint on my Golf has been pretty durable despite not being metallic but was a cost option.

My RF pouch thing for the key has given up the ghost already. Wish I'd kept the receipt. Time for a new one, I guess... Are the local constabulary doing any for nowt or a bargain low price?
