After 7 years of Kuga driving, my sister in law is looking to change her car. Including trade in she has about £22/£25K and wants something no more than about a year old. One of the cars which falls into this price band is the Koleos but I know absolutely nothing about it.
What are they like, is it an XTrail in drag, which engine is better, anything to stay away from, are they reliable, any problems etc etc.
The car she would really like would be a 4WD Edge but at her price point they are all nearly 3 years old.

I'd rather have a Kuga than a Kollywobble, I assure you !
Kadjars are being advertised with huge discounts, would that be sufficiently large if Humph can swing you a suitable discount? Is AWD a must-have?

Is AWD a must-have? The Kuga is getting a bit small with two growing children, a dog and regular weekend trips away. She has a FWD Kuga just now so 4WD is not an absolute must but it would be preferred.

You can get 2017 Edge’s for well less than 25k.
If manual is ok you can get a 10 mile 18 plate for £25k
Kia Sorento?

Sorrento she also likes but thought it was too expensive.

Have a look on Trust Ford’s site. Cars could be anywhere (including NI).
I think Lookers have a 2017 Sport 210 auto with Lux Pack for sub £25k and a lovely lower mileage black one for £26970.
Manual 180ps are less. I’d always try to get a Lux pack if possible.

2018 Zetec, £24k linkCheaper one looks very good value. I would hope that the Zetec has a heated front screen.... and am I the only one who reads its plate as "FAI BERK" ? (FAI meaning something to an engineer such as me......)

Of those choices I'd go for the Edge. But get an auto. A manual just seems wrong in a US designed SUV.

The car she would really like would be a 4WD Edge but at her price point they are all nearly 3 years old. Koleos is ok, I've been running around exclusively in one for the past week, but have been buggering about in one, on and off since launch. It is based on the X-Trail but is more luxurious and Renault have put their design stamp on it; the X-Trail is a bit bland, the Koleos is definately more distintive, they are reliable with no particular problems, the one to go for is the Signature Nav dCi 175 auto 4x4; top of the range basically and you will easily pick a nice, year old one up for £24k; I recently sold an ex Renault company car with optional beige leather, parking pack and climate pack, 6k miles for £23950.00 (this is a £36k car new) this one is on a 67 plate so will have the 4 year warranty from new, cars from Feb 18 onwards have 3 years, so if you do look seriously into one I would suggest getting a pre Feb 18 car. They are big and lazy and do feel it, however they are comfy, they are juicy but I guess 34mpg in a big auto 4x4 is to be expected and par for the course. They are a good car, they will never sell in big numbers which is quite nice as you won't see loads about. I had a look at an ex colleagues Edge last year and I thought the interior was very poor, lots of hard uninspiring plastic, I do think they look good from the outside though.

We’ll hand in my car anorak as I had no idea this car existed. When you said Koleos, I thought you meant that old Samsung first gen thing, the real horrid car that Renault rushes into production back in 2006

Issue with the Edge is that it is huge and very wide. If that's not an issue, then fine. But I'd try one on an extended test drive first.
There's a Vignale version too isn't there? That presumably drops in value in an utterly vertiginous manner.
