I can't quite believe it has been 2 years, but the lease on the Ibiza is up and it has been replaced with its bigger (better looking) sibling.
I really need to get myself back into this forum again, it has not been a great few years for us.
I have been "lurking" a little more of late and thought this post might get me back into things.

Hi.
What engine does it have, and how are you finding it?

Hi. What engine does it have, and how are you finding it? Just to trigger Martin, it has the 'same' engine as his Golf R (albeit mapped to WLTP regs). So 290PS 2.0 Turbo (EA888). Only FWD though, so no traffic light GP demon!

Welcome back, nothing had changed. Do you still have the Saxo?

Welcome back, nothing had changed. Do you still have the Saxo? I still have it, though it is destined to be broken for parts now. I need to get it stripped for anything "useful/valuable" and get rid of it when the weather improves...

Welcome back. My neighbour has just recently made exactly the same car change as you and he is much happier with the Cupra even though his wife thinks it is too fast.

Looks good, the colour of the badge on the grille gave away the engine. SEAT are ahead of VW, all the Golf Rs that have been built since the factory reopened are parked up waiting for the WLTP certification. If we’d orders ours a couple of weeks later, we’d still be waiting, or have cancelled as it would be Feb (got ours in July).
Welcome back.

Did the get they 7 Speed DSG version too? My better 3/4 finds that the gearbox is more of an issue than the performance... (though it is only the first day she has driven it!) She is only in "comfort" mode though, which incidentally rides better on its 19" wheels than the Ibiza did on its 16" wheels.
I am happy so far...

It’s only because there has been so much in the motoring press about the Cupra/SEAT brand nonsense and that’s the signature colour. If it’s set up like the R, it shouldn’t feel too fast in comfort (with the DSG gearbox anyway), as you really need to have 1/3rd throttle before it really goes. Lindsay wanted a manual, but thought the DSG was OK when she had a test drive and is now fully converted.

Welcome back, and nice car.
I was a big fan of the Cupra ST we test drove in the summer. I know you mentioned about The TLGP struggle above ^ , but does it torque steer much apart from that ?

Had a look at the broker price, £25k for the Cupra Lux after discount. That’s before adding any options, but you don’t really need to thanks to a generous std spec (metallic, DCC, 19” wheel, Keyless etc). That’s really good value.

I have not really pushed it yet, it seems well behaved at the speeds I have driven it at so far. I am sure it will tramp the front axle with the best of them from a standing start... it is more of a "roll on" monster than a TLGP car.

Welcome back! A SEAT Cupra. As opposed to a Cupra Cupra then. Enjoy it.
That colour really suits it - a sort of bluey grey metallic, no doubt with some marketing led Sapnishy name?

Yep, a SEAT Cupra, they have just colour the badge copper. The CUPRA Leon (or whatever they call it), will have the new Logo. It doesn't say LEON on the back either and they have removed the flag from the back. They have left the flag on the front but coloured it black too. I really like the "stealth" look of it. It is just called Magnetic Grey in this country...

A few more images of the new car (and the outgoing Ibiza)
It looks much more purposeful than the slightly taller Ibiza due to its additional width (ooer). Note the lack of badging (other than the C U P R A under the SEAT badge)
From this angle it looks smaller, though perspective is obviously an issue. The only badge on the exterior of the car (which is black on the post BW42 MY19 cars)

That colour really does suit the car to a tee. Nicely understated.

Welcome back. Hope things are improving for you, as others have said. Interesting comment about other halfs thinking cars are too fast. Mrs R used to hate it when I gave it full beans in the Volvo, complaining it made her tummy feel funny. Like that was a bad thing?! How are you finding 280 odd bhp through the front wheels.
