Is there a place for this type of conduct?
Were the tribe involved right to defend their rights or is the missionary right to go?
The more things change the more they stay the same.

There's a dozen of them left. Aside from being horribly in-bred they must know their world is not the same as the rest from things like helicopters and drones flying over their heads. Their time is up and the last one alive will be monitored and when dead the bodies and bones will be tested to oblivion to see if there's some missing link DNA that will cure all ills.
As to the missionary: his fate was that of many that have gone into that line of work over the centuries. As he was a Christian missionary I am surprised that ISIS haven't claimed his death as the work of one of their disciples!

Well that's enough about Fundamentalist Christians from the US, what are you're thoughts on these tribespeople? Since the missionary was likely to be carrying any number of diseases potentially fatal to this tribe I think we can call it self-defence.

The fact is that the tribesmen have acted aggressively towards almost anyone who tried to come on to their island and they have probably done so for hundreds of years. They don't know any differently so sad as it is, many others have probably met the same fate over the years. They live outside our modern world and therefore can't be judged by our standards.

They should be left alone if that's what they want and he was a Darwin Award-worthy prat.

+1
They've made it clear over the years that they want no contact, they're clearly aware of the outside world.
For the idiot missionary's family to 'forgive' the tribesmen is ridiculous, they should be angry that he ignored so many warnings and clear instructions not to go, far from bringing Christianity to them its likely he would've brought devastation with his array of Western diseases.
Why are these 'Christian' people so ignorant of other peoples views?*
*Same goes for these Evangelical Christians apparently running the US.

I wonder if a State Visit for Donald Trump could be arranged?

I half expected him to announce a full military strike due to their unwelcoming treatment of a true American....

He broke the law to go there. It was known to be very dangerous. He was an idiot. Sad, but very true.

Completely Darwin award worthy as has been said, perhaps with a gold clasp and stars or something.
