I don't really understand the naming convention of pick up trucks but of the designations I can remember seeing on them we have Warrior, Invincible and now Gladiator. Toxic masculinity is surely to blame?

Last stand against toxic feminism, perhaps?

This sort of vehicle does seem to attract the sort of names that suggest bad things about the owners.
In particular, that new Ford pickup with FORD on the grille in letters the size of the Hollywood sign seems always to be driven by alpha male/knuckle dragger types.

Is that what the UK one is called?
And I suppose it all started a long time ago with things like Spitfire, Interceptor etc.

No, it's called a Ranger. I suppose the big Ford badge lets the owner think American trucks rather than a finger wagging bureaucrat chasing Yogi.

That Jeep looks like a natural replacement for the Defender lwb pickup.
I can't see the new Defender (whenever it appears) being utilitarian - the designer wouldn't like that.

I didn't think it was Raptor, so grateful for very small mercies. Raptor (n) - a fast, agile bird of prey. Or a fat slow, lumbering heffalump of a vehicle. With logic like that, maybe I should be changing my name to Adonis?

Isn't the Raptor just an Americanised version of the (already large) Ranger with split rim type wheels and extra body addenda, including a 'power' bulge on the bonnet.

I thought the Raptor was the special version of the F150 truck which is the next size up from the Ranger?

There's definitely some sort of 'enhanced' version of the UK Ranger that has a wider track and looks as if it has a greater ride height.

Ranger Raptor arrives next May.
The ones you are seeing are regular Rangers that have had an aftermarket ‘Raptor’ grill and then wheelarch extensions and aftermarket wheels.
Our lawyers have cracked down on the grills saying Ford on them, so they now say HAWK.

The middle bit looks like a Landy.

In fairness to Jeep it's the middle of a Landy that looks Jeepy.

This "utilitarian" Jeep will likely be north of £40k in the UK. Like the new Defender will be. Mind you, Merc are getting away with charging £40k for a tarted up Nissan Navara, so what do I know.

Wow, that is huge. No chance of that fitting in an average parking space

If this comment from Autocar is true - "Jeep says the Gladiator can carry loads of up to 725kg, and has 4370kg of towing capacity", it won't be taxable as a commercial vehicle in the UK as it need sa load capacity of over 1.000kg. I think the forthcoming Ranger Raptor suffers from the same issue.

I assume they're not really expecting it to matter across here - can't see it being common on the roads.
All the usual pickup suspects clear the magic 1,000kg hurdle.

But can they land jumps and speed through a rutted quarry whilst evading evildoers on scramblers? They can not.
