Sebastian Loeb. What a driver, he won the rally in Catalunya despite only running three events this year. It was his first win in six years, the last season he ran full-time. I just think its extraordinary, the WRC is not short of talent with Ogier, Neuville, Tanak and others. I was watching the opening stage on Thursday, and he stalled, lost 9 seconds in the process. But that city centre stage was not going to be representative of how he ran; he made astute tyre choices, made minimal mistakes when it mattered, and it was like he was never away.
I love WRC. I sit there and think, there is no possible way I can do that. Their bravery, car control and precision is beyond my comprehension. They might be souped up supermini's, but dismissing WRC based upon that would be a great mistake. There is so much talent displayed across racing, but perhaps no series illustrates the visible nature of that talent like WRC. The cars aren't planted to the track with a huge run-off area, its dangerous, a bit mad but brilliant to watch.

It's all of that and more; sadly, I have seen none of it this year.

Its a poor relation to the good ol' days. When you could go down the showroom and but a Grale, Impreza, Quattro etc it was great but now the cars look to detached from reality. Its why I hated Peugeot when they started winning everything with the 206

I watched it last night on the telly and the commentator was saying about Ogier taking it easy. If that was taking it easy, I'd hate to see him on the edge! I still don't understand why Ken Block is still present, though.
