Good news for him but how good is he going to be at developing the car for next year? Does F2 have similar 'power unit systems' as F1 or does it just have engines? Etc, etc.

That is great news, really hope he does well. Just need to find Ocon a seat now.

Agreed but what on earth did Force India do wrong to have the Stroller foisted on them? I know about the buy out which was a long time coming but seriously? From two strong points scorers to Stroller and a fast disappearing Sergio Perez. Can daddy make Lance number one driver too???

Odd choice seeing as they still have Ocon seatless. What's going on with the other seat at Williams, Sirotken in for another year?

Agreed but what on earth did Force India do wrong to have the Stroller foisted on them? They ran out of money. Apparently the reason that "Force India" is still in the new team's name is that the rules state that the car's constructor has to feature in the team's name, and Force India built the cars. A name-change for the team is therefore highly likely for next season

Absolutely brilliant news. Russell was last year’s GP3 Champion, and is in a great position to win the F2 title in Abu Dhabi this year. If this kind of performance couldn’t get you to F1, the system would be screwed. It’s going to see great seeing Russell and Norris race each other in F1, just like they have in F2. Williams need to ditch the mobile chicane that is Sirotkin, and put Ocon in the other Williams. I thought Sirotkin was decent in F2, and in isolation is a fine driver, but purely in relation to the people without a seat and need one, it’s not a contest. With the simplified front wings next year, we might just have a show. The right drivers in the right cars.

Etc, etc. Just a turbocharged V6, spec everything else and a simple venturi. Ocon has been in F1 for long enough now to feel the differences of aerodynamic upgrades, set-up changes etc. Russell and Ocon would be such a fantastic line-up, and although drivers can't mask a poor car - this would signify that Williams is serious about going forward. People will say that having two Merc juniors would be bad, because Mercedes can snatch them away at any point. True, but when you have these sorts of drivers available, you can't say no.

I presume that Sirotkin brings some money with him to Williams which is probably all that protects him from being cut free. However I agree that Ocon would be a great addition. I also hope Williams find out what has been causing their car to be slow and that they are able to make some real progress for 2019. They have the best engine so it's all aero and suspension.
