For now anyway....this is getting ridiculous! Article
I do think that most are just the latest way to keep company car tax down and don’ have enough range. I have a few colleagues with both 530e and 330e and I only know one that plugs it in a home and a couple plug them in when it gets them a better parking space in town....

Our company car park is host to a number of PHEVs, and I am thinking of joining in, so this is all very relevant for me.
We have a few Outlanders on the fleet, but they are reputed to be expensive to run and a recent test drive didn't impress. I would have a C Class, but no longer available. A Volvo V60 PHEV would be ideal, but not yet available. The XC60 in a decent spec is probably too expensive.
We have a tax system which bends you over if you have a diesel company car, but the alternative is not available, so for now I shall continue to use a fleet Nissan Navara for going on farm to keep my own Benz out of the cow shit.
Edit to add: we do have a plug in point at the office which is used.

They've just had two charging points installed where I work, but no one has an electric car!

'Volkswagen, BMW, Mercedes-Benz and Porsche are among the automakers that have halted sales of some of their plug-in hybrid cars in Europe in the wake of new emissions regulations'

They may be encouraged to stop production due to the relative difficulty of getting the stuff used in the batteries, I suspect they'd have to either raise the prices of the cars or take a reduction in profit.
It's a rather confusing message from Porsche on theback of their recent pronouncement that they'd stop making diesels. So all you can buy from them just now is a petrol, just like the old days!

I know a guy with a 530e which he always plugs in every night. His daily commute is about 8 miles each way in slow traffic which he does wholly on electric but longer journeys when he is out seeing clients etc he needs the ICE. His average mpg last time I saw him was 48mpg which I thought was pretty impressive and better than any ICE would manage with his slow stop start daily commute into the city.

The reason that many PHEV models have been "temporarily" withdrawn is that under the old testing regime, they all fell under the magic 50 gm/km - less BIK in UK, less taxes etc in a lot of other countries - but under WLTP they are over 50gm/km. So unless the manufacturers re-engineer them and put in bigger batteries to increase the battery only range their tax-efficient status is not met.
Back in the real world, their economy does seem pretty good. Didn't Bryan confirm that he gets 40+ all the time?
I suspect that the manufacturers will be very keen to get their PHEV's back on sale.

I thought Bryan said he didn't ever bother plugging it in, so that 40+ is despite it being a PHEV rather than because of it.

Didn't it also refuse to drive to a petrol station once?

Didn't it also refuse to drive to a petrol station once? Yes I believe he let the tank run dry because he assumed that with plenty of battery charge it could run in EV mode to a filling station. Turns out Mercedes won’t let you do that. I assume because of the limited range and performance available in pure EV mode.

'Volkswagen, BMW, Mercedes-Benz and Porsche are among the automakers that have halted sales of some of their plug-in hybrid cars in Europe in the wake of new emissions regulations' Yes, I read that too..... Don’t let the truth get in the way of a good story and all that, I was only matching the title to the no more diesels thread.

I don't bother plugging in unless very low on fuel, gets about 40mpg but phev helps a lot recovering energy and engine off almost a third of the miles.....must be crap without it!
I didn't run tank dry, range had about 40miles on petrol (difficult as Merc blanks range just when you need it is under 50 miles but had driven 10miles from that point ) and 10% battery. It decided it needed to keep this fuel to itself rather than sharing with me....
Turning it off and on again got me the petrol to kick in for long enough to get onto the forecourt.
