Dreadful weather, it fucking poured down all day. My camera was getting soaked so most of the pics are too dark due to just using auto. But, we saw 17 Spitfires take off, do a formation fly past, land, and then taxi past us at almost spitting distance. We also saw a Lancaster, Tornado and F35 formation fly past, with the Tornado coming back round and doing a full pace fly past (final display before its retired in January), followed by the F35, which showed its hovering capabilities, before roaring off at full chat accompanied by an almighty roar. We also saw other stuff, but its taken 4 hours to upload the pics, and I can't be arsed to write anymore. Enjoy

Looks like a great day (other than the weather). Is that a Seafire towards the end?
We see Galaxies flying overhead every now and then - I am always struck by how slow they seem to be travelling, but that's because their vast size makes my eye see them as being closer than they really are.

BBMF don't have any Seafires as far as I know Simon. If it's the one I think you mean (silver, 5-blade prop) that's a MkXIX built in 1945, possibly used as a reconnaissance aircraft (can't remember offhand. This gives you loads of information on the various aircraft in the flight, though it's not exhaustive.

Not as smart (or observant) as I like to hope then, eh?!

I assume there would've been a Seafire in there as there's certainly one on the UK show circuit.
Sad to note that the early Meteor, the world's oldest jet currently flying, and now a Canberra that was at Coventry have both been sold overseas. The Meteor is now flying in the US and the Canberra has gone to the Indian Air Force historic flight.

Sadly, the lure of the filthy lucre is great.

Not as smart (or observant) as I like to hope then, eh?! I'm not 100% to be fair, but I don't think it was. Maybe Andy can tell us for sure? Quite happy to be proved wrong though! Saw both of them fly at Southport a couple of years ago, and almost preferred them to the Eurofighter Typhoon. Almost! Saw the Tornados fly from Leuchars at the last show there, in addition to the Typhoon, and have to say as a flying spectacle it's hard to separate them! Somehow the Tonka just sounds better, though a large part of that may well be reminiscent favouritism!

I think the Seafire is privately owned. Either that or its part of the navy heritage flight.
Tornado sounds a lot better than the Typhoon. I was on West Sands not long before the RAF left there when a pair of Tornadoes took off, quickly followed by a couple of Typhoons. More noise from the old 'un, possibly helped by it requiring a longer take off run!

I was reading an article about the Oshkosh Air Venture annual show last night. Sounds amazing - 601k visitors in the week and nearly 20k aircraft movements, most of them older stuff.
