Deposit paid and I’ll arrange to borrow a friend’s trailer to collect and pay the rest in cash.
Told the wife. Forgiveness is easier than permission etc.

Oh dear god. Well at least you know you’re buying a car that needs rebuilding from the ground up this time. Congratulations.

Nah, get the bulkhead modifications finished and roller paint a coat of enamel on and it will be spot on.

Its when you see an image of a car like that, you start questioning why they've made the MOT exempt for cars of a certain vintage.
Anyways good luck Mark, you could have kept the Hilux and had a quite life!!!

^ Looks interesting but it's "only" 300bhp (isn't that less than your T6?) and the rust on the slam panel suggests some neglect; when my parents passed on their 145 after 30 years that panel was blemish-free, and the 240-series were to a large extent, 140-series with a new front end and dash.
EDIT: With a Rover V-8, isn't this one for Mark to take on ?

That looks like a Blarno dream project. Room for it on the drive next to the SAAB?

I struggle with the DB9. Some days I find them the most beautiful cars on the road then I imagine them to be breaking down on a daily basis, not that I drive on a daily basis.
I do like that one.

That does look lovely, my preference would be for darker wood but it’s not horrendous.

I do like that rather a lot. What are AM servicing costs like? Is it £2K just to get through the door?

I do like that rather a lot. What are AM servicing costs like? Is it £2K just to get through the door? When I looked a few years back, it was roughly £100 a cylinder a year, assuming 10,000 miles. As they get older, fixed price servicing becomes available, as it does with Porsche. Price
Always thinking ahead....I was looking at McLaren serving costs at the weekend, which is a lot more than Porsche but it was the extended warranty cost which made my eyes water....£3,700 minimum!

You'd need to like some serious out of the way holidaying to justify one of those.

I saw something similar to one of those in the car park at Tesco in Dundee a couple of years ago. I know our roads are pretty bad but that's maybe just a wee bit OTT

Range Rovers. The bakery guy just bought a new one and his BR10 CHE plate is adorned to it. Then I was out with a friend the other night who has bought a villa in Spain up above a valley and he is considering a Range Rover as his holiday home wheels. Then a very elegant green one was parked outside the Department yesterday. Then I looked on AT and so it begins...... www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201809050184711

You should start looking at the Vogue SE as a minimum, for the lovely leather even if you’re not interested in the extra kit. I was very tempted, enough for it to be on my test drive list, but whilst they drive superbly for something so capable off road, it’s still no match for a decent big saloon and I couldn’t shake off my concerns about reliability.

So nice to see a FFRR in a proper colour combination with no privacy glass and no chav detailing. Specced by a person of taste and refinement. I know what you mean Martin re the fast saloon / estate v RR decision, but I personally think that a FFRR can be both a limo and an SUV. I still have very fond memories of my V8 Classic Vogue SE and used to cover more miles in that at one sitting than I tend to do in the XFR. That maybe comfort, or it may be that my desire for comfort breaks has got stronger over the years ;-) If I had money and justification for one, I'd have a FFRR in my garage tomorrow - as well as the XFR......

I really like the look of this, black, silver wheels - although the ad says bi-colour - and red leather. It was all going well until I saw the pics of the interior and having now looked at a few others it appears that on the coupe/gran coupe you have no choice - the lower dashboard is colour matched to the seats. usedcars.bmw.co.uk/vehicle/201812063044783?location=Cupar%20KY15,%20UK"eref=a9607b9e-8187-474e-897d-3906bade2543

A colleague has a 4 series in that exact spec and it isn't that bad. Yes you'd rather have a black dash but it isn't enough to put me off the car

It's not too bad on that car really but there's a Gran Coupe with the same dash and it's photos were taken with the sun shining on it and that makes a difference.
Could be worse though if you opted for the ivory white leather and matching dash!!!

If you want black, I would hold out for Carbon Black instead. It looks stunning in the sun. Nothing wrong with Sapphire, fine colour, but Carbon Black is special.
Those wheels are a good alternative to the diamond-cut ones. I prefer the look of the diamond-cut 704 wheels, but those wheels are more practical.

Ha, my current 3 is sapphire black but you can't see it for all the muck. I'd like to say that's just because of the current road conditions but I'd be lying - it's been dirty for a lot longer than just this winter. Not sure I'd get the benefit of carbon black. I'm not familiar with the numbering of wheels but my current steed has the 7 double spoke wheels that are darker on the inside of the spokes, again nice enough but covered in a layer of muck. EDIT: checked a similar car online and mine has the 19 inch M Double-spoke 442M Orbit Grey wheels.
