I am usually sad to see the good ones go,but always tempered by the excitement of its replacement.
The gt4 is odd as under normal circumstances I would not sell the car. However as I mentioned before I have had serious issues with my left knee, hip, back and shoulder ongoing for 5 years and the gt4 exasperates these. So a future awaits with no bucket seats and flappy paddles.
So anyway here is a summary of my thoughts. So much has been written about the car there are not many things I can add ,so I will just post some random observations.
Car as a 2nd car /weekend toy is biblical,I am genuinely struggling to think of anything remotely near the money that offers anything like the experience the gt4 offers, and on many roads there are no other cars I can think of I would rather be in,mclarens and ferraris etc are too wide and too fast for b roads, possibly a gt3 may but that is £40k more .
The car feels like its made from one piece of metal ,and everything is so tactile...the steering, the gearshift (stunning shift truly stunning) ,the brakes, the way it goes round corners, the way it stays stuck to the road regardless of what the road is doing even though the ride is firm (firm but not uncomfortable). The way it attacks corners is astonishing.
What is it bad at..well you could drive it everyday and use as a daily but to be honest you would be sacrificing a lot.The ride is firm ,the buckets incredibly firm and awkward to get in and out of.On the road there is huge road noise so much so that the Stereo even the upgraded sound plus version is rubbish, you have to listen at ear bleeding volumes . 'Ah well I would only listen to the engine..you're a pussy for getting any stereo in Porsche GT car' is the pistonwankers cry ,but 3 hours of tyre roar driving up the m6 is not my idea of fun.
The gearchange is as mentioned stunning but the gearing means you cannot really get maximum enjoyment out of it.The engine is nice but at 0-5000 rpm just sounds like a drone to me ,it comes alive at 5000 rpm where it really does feel strong and sounds superb.
Overall I would say if you want one car then the gt4 is not it unless you are pretty hardcore and prepared to sacrifice a lot.As a weekend toy/second car it is utterly utterly brilliant ,a few issues where you think they could have done this better ,and compared to say a gt3 or ferrari etc it does lack a bit of excitement ,but it is a truly great car .
And finally ...cheapest car to run I have ever owned ,no costs outside of road tax /petrol /insurance and will probably 18 months after taking delivery of it nett 10k profit after the dealer takes their cut.
