P250 R-Dynamic HSE in Narvik Black Options = Privacy glass and the NCO silver 21s (instead of the dark grey 10 spokes) Standard = Crazy spec - this thing has been steeped in a vat of the finest FG, off the top of my head: 20 way electric memory, heated, cooled and massage seats Extended softgrain leather Rear electric seat recline 825 watt Meridian stereo Matrix LEDs Adaptive cruise Super parky park park Gesture tailgate and other stuff. It is surprisingly lovely to drive, the refinement is very good and it rides beautifully considering the 21s and non-air suspension. It's a million miles away from the F-Pace and much closer to the D5 and RRS in terms of waft. The main driver is very chuffed. Less chuffed with the midnight handover, but this is another insane PCP staff cheapy and the dealer has 600 cars going out during September. So I was told I could have it at midnight or sometime in October....

Very nice. I think the Velar is a fantastic looking thing, both inside and out. Hope you have a great time with it. I love the idea of a 'Gesture tailgate' and I think you should experiment with exactly how offensive a gesture will still result in the tailgate opening.

Looks fantastic (privacy glass aside which I have an irrational / rational - depending on your viewpoint - dislike of). I agree they are really smart looking vehicles.
Somehow they look smaller and more sleek than I expected, and they are instantly recognisable v the Exoque and RRS.
I bet the lease rate on a bonkers staff cheapie will make the rest of us turn a vivid shade of green with envy.......

A near perfect spec. I think those are the best wheels as the 22”s are too bling. In green or dark blue for me.
I see JLR are doing really good deals on pcp something like 2k down and £400 a month for a D180. Not that you want a 180.

That does look very pleasant indeed. We passed a Velar that colour the other night ( sans privacy glass) but, despite PG's assertion they look like nothing else, I thought for the first few seconds it was an Evoque.

Looks much better in that colour than the pre-launch pics they released.

They look great from the rear 3/4, but less so from the front (hence the angle of the photos I posted)
For some reason, the deal included privacy glass but no other options. I could add options, but they would have to be paid upfront and would have zero impact on the GMFV.
The rate is once in a lifetime cheap, ‘‘twas a no brainer of cosmic proportions.
On the basis that gesture tailgates rarely work first time, I guess the frantic foot waggling is accompanied by multiple F bombs.

The looks very pleasant. Do you know anyone at JLR up for a marriage of convenience in order that I can benefit from a staff discount?

I think the rear 3/4 is it’s worst angle.....looks good overall though. Sounds like you’ve got a great deal, so makes total sense.
Adding individual options with a PCP rarely increases the GFV (packs can), so it depends on the value you place on them and how long you’ll be keeping it. Black is a big no for me, but you’ve definately made the right wheel choice. I had a good look at the Velour a few months back, it’s surprisingly cramped in the back and is pretty pricey (for the general public!) on LR finance or purchase, I think I got to around £80k or £75k after discount, which is too much imho especially if you look at a full fat RR while you’re in the showroom. The standard spec is good, but you need to pay extra for the full leather dash and a sunroof even in the top trim level.
Gesture tailgates are great.

White does not suit the Velar at all, so black it was. Narvik is a shiny jet black and its much better than the charcoally black metallics.
If I was keeping the car for 3 years plus, it would send it straight to a detailer for correction and a full ceramic coating.
However, as it’s currently unswirled (good work mr Retailer) and its on a 12 month agreement, I will just be careful with it as I have the tools and the patience to keep it reasonable.

They look great from the rear 3/4, but less so from the front (hence the angle of the photos I posted) I agree. The front is a bit too bar-of-soap bland. It's a car that I can never decide how much I like. It's immensely spec-sensitive. In some colours and with the right wheels, I think they look great. In others, they look terrible - like a concept car clay styling buck that escaped from the studio before anyone could finalise the detailing. That said, in a world where cars often are overly contrived in their exterior detailing with way too many swoops and scoops and weird trim lines, I do admire the general purity though. Too pricey for me sadly: I couldn't have a 4-cylinder one so it would have to be the 380bhp supercharged V6 which only comes in HSE spec and once optioned to my liking weighs in at £76k (having started at £70k). With "rip me a new one" interest of 5.9%, that hits over £1k a month on PCP. So more than 2.5x what I pay for the 440i.

V6 petrol was discontinued in June for UK and Europe
The only v6 is the diesel..
Out of interest - what are you adding to a HSE that adds £6k to the price ?.
The only things I would want extra would be metallic paint, the leather dash and door top rolls and a heated steering wheel. That's another £2k I think.
I'd gladly swap the gesture tailgate, ACC, power rear recline seats and the seat massaging function just for a heated steering wheel.

I was already annoyed by the colour choices. Can’t remember. The ones you mentioned, a sliding panoramic glass roof, a premium exterior pack that added a bit of definition at the front. Different wheels as I don’t like the standard one yours has.

So I was told I could have it at midnight or sometime in October.... With most of them probably going onto private plates you wouldn't have thought RR buyers would be so fussed about the 1st Sept registration change. The Velar is a gorgeous machine, the smooth shape with recessed door handles just shouts quality. My current favourite RR product.

I've not been a fan of the Velar so far but now I think that's been because all the ones I've seen are pale metallics.
In black and with those wheels its much more attractive.

That looks great. Including the interior with many big screens. Given that Racing priced one at north of a grand per month on PCP, can I cheekily ask roughly how the monstrous staff discount PCP compares to that?
