The Lotus has failed its MOT on the rear brakes I'll be getting a new set of calipers fitted so hopefully sort out the problem. Does anyone know if a minor issue counts as a failure point ie a boot on the front suspension being worn, is it previously known as an advisory?

A severely deteriorated boot is classed as a minor fault according to the manual. It’s only a fail if it’s missing or split.

For a car of that age I don’t think you can complain too much about that

But the brakes are no age! The rear set up and calipers on the elan are notoriously crap! I have history that they have been rebuilt several times, including once with me. Most service bits are nla.
I have bitten the bullet and ordered a PNM rear brake kit, which uses modified MK4 Golf calipers and resolves the issues for good aledgedly!

Is your new garage going to have a lift so you can work on the cars?

That's my plan (eventually) I want a lift so I can learn to work on the cats. Won't be very high though.
