We had this discussion on the old forum, about features and styling devices you just don't like but can't quite reason. Offset number plates, non ovoid exhausts etc.
I think about that thread title every time I see a new VW Polo and that shutline where the front edge of the bonnet meets the plastic of the nose. Plenty of other cars have a similar feature but I hate it on the new Polo. It might be because it because it makes the car look so much like a South American market special that's not quite a Polo but not quite a Golf either - I think they called it the Gol.
Any more?

BMWs current obsession with shoehorning as many horizontal lines and creases as possible across the rear of its cars. Next time you're behind a silver X3/4 (just as an example) have a look and make sure you count the lines for things like the rubbing strip, if fitted, multiple lines for the 'diffuser', etc.
I've said it before but 30 years ago the magazines laughed at all the lines around the rear of the Alfa 75 but it was a model of restraint compared with these things.
Actually, I have an intense dislike of the black plastic fake diffusers in general.

"Adventure" bikes, like the BMW GS range, the Triumphs, and all their ilk.
Never seen one not ridden by a cunt.

Upward swept quarterlight windows on the D pillar. Especially when they are so small as to be completely useless.
Also see: tiny rear wipers for the same reason.
I also still cannot understand why DRLs are only active on the front of a car. Is the person behind not important enough? Why is it only oncoming traffic?

Overly large grills on any brand, hideous.

Overly large grills on any brand, hideous. Agreed - the new crop of BMW SUVs is particularly horrid in this regard. Agree on the new Polo looking like a Brazil-market special too. I hate door handles which are positioned too high on doors. And silly trapezoidal etc exhaust cut-outs. Either it's an exhaust pipe or it isn't.

The new AMG vertically-slatted grille is reason enough to never buy one, no matter how good or desirable the rest of the car. I absolutely detest it.
