So what's the score on selling cars on ebay?
I'm still unsure about what the fees are. I'd probably want a buy it now price or best offer - I presume with the latter you can decline as many offers as you wish even if it remains unsold?
Looking at ebay is it just £14.99 for the ad and 1% of the final transaction up to £35? I presumed it would be hundreds.
The camper will hopefully go for north of £15k so what's the best payment type to accept?
Anything to put in the ad to stop people trying it on or scam you?

If you must then classified ad only. If you put it as an auction, eBay bollock you for trying to arrange viewings as they say you are trying to sell outside eBay. Fuckwits.
Bank transfer is the best way. Avoid PayPal.

I'd use Autotrader or specialist manufacturer specific magazines or websites. For your camper I doubt you'll have problems finding a buyer, the way people seem to be lapping up VW vans at the moment. Bank transfer all the way - and no release of the vehicle until verified it's in your account.

eBay to sell or buy cars?
In a word: no.

Campers are hot property at the moment and if yours is a decent example you’ll get more money on a specialist website or magazine ad than if you open yourself to bargain hunters on eBay.

Decided on autotrader or rather the campervan version. Got a fair few leads within the first 24hrs and would have had viewings if it wasn’t for the fact I was away this weekend - not great timing.
Had advertised on the main Facebook buy/sell transporter page - not a sniff. Seems populated by enthusiasts rather than the general public who have unrealistic expectations as to the value of their vans with scene tax.
Have no real idea on values of these things, but had actually under valued it slightly according to the bloke who did the original conversion. If I get what it’s advertised for, it will have only lost 15% in five years which is not too bad considering I put 20k on it as a daily commuter on top of usual mileage.

Well it sold last Wednesday subject to payment for £500 less than asking. For the sake of hanging on for £500 its gone to a nice couple with kids (just don't look the type to mess me around) and its gone before we move to Plymouth.
In the end stuck it also on ebay and certainly the ad got more views, interest and sold within days. However, some where the usual low offers before they have even viewed it or wanting to p/x a landrover lol.
