I was speaking to a Shell employee on Saturday and he said that their pollution problems in Nigeria have always been caused by locals tapping into a pipeline and setting up a local refinery!
Whenever the pipeline gets repaired they just move along a bit and do it again

Anyway they are amateurs compared to Chelsea FC's gangster owner, Roman Abramovich. After a brief stint of selling plastic ducks from his wife's flat at the age of 25 he moved onto better things and was convicted of deliberately forging documents for 3million kg of diesel fuel carried in five railway tankers to the value of 3.8bn roubles that were “emptied and appropriated.” And that was only the one's he got caught with - he would meet the tankers with forged documents and send them off to be emptied elsewhere before disappearing.
