It may be just an old Rover but the guide price looks a bit stiff. Not convinced by the colour, either.
I do love the way that a reputable trader gives a glowing description, then qualifies it by saying that it's based on information provided by the "vendor", and that potential buyers need to check things out for themselves ! Quite how they get away with this, I don't know - can auction houses really hide behind such statements?

It is a lovely thing. I always lusted after these when they were new. I have noticed the prices of these firming up in the past 12 months and the auction estimate looks about right to me.
Now, imagine a lightweight wood and aluminium Morgan +8 with that engine...

Lovely and its about time the price of these started climbing, it still looks extremely cheap compared with an E30 M3 for example.

These are fab. I loved them when they were new: a few squash-playing dads had them so I've been cosseted by their interiors a few times. Comedy lash ups used in Top Gear aside, I think SD1s are now getting to the position of most classics of a type whereby they are now more likely to better kept, more reliable and better screwed together than when they originally left the factory.

I’ve always really liked them, dreamed of my dad having one as a company car when I was a kid rather than the six cylinder SE (which I did really like). I had a good look at a couple at Stowe and I still like them but could never own one.

I've always loved the SD1. I was offered the chance to buy an SD1 Vitesse last year by a friend who has a stupidly large collection of half rebuilt classics - several Pug 205's and 309's, 3 Rover SD1 Vittesses and so on. He wanted £6k for it. But when I went to see it, it was still a complete wreck (despite his promises to the contrary) and I just could not face the huge amount of work (and serious money) required to even get it to an MOT stage., let alone finished.
Interesting that there are no pictures of the interior in that advert. The interior of the one I was offered that was totally shonky and I think interior parts are harder to come by than mechanical components.

A Vanden Plas EFi is actually a lot rarer than a Vitesse TP

My dad had a 3500 SE for an hour and half. (That's how long it was from collection in Edinburgh to a head on collision with an Astra on the wrong side of the A697 past Coldstream).
