As of Saturday, I've had the family truck for two years. Nothing new or different to report and no problems other than the small leak identified at the last service. It's still a great place to be and I've been enjoying the cooled seats, double glazed/solar attenuating glass (which keeps the car quite a lot cooler than you'd expect) and remote start. I've only had it a month less than the 750, but it doesn't feel as long, I assume that's because I've spent less time in it. I've done just over 26k miles vs 49k in the BMW.
I won't look at costs as it isn't an 'end of term' report, but it's slightly less than expected with depreciation a lot less than expected, although the trade value has dropped a lot in the last couple of months. But as I'm not changing it now it doesn't make any difference.

This is c£15k over list, which is daft for a 6 month old car, but not when you compare the spec to similarly prices cars and a 4 year old 991.2 GTS at £100k. If you include the PTS (which it wasn't at the time, but would be now) cost then it's 'only' £10k over list.... More than I'd want to spend, but still plenty of 'want'! finder.porsche.com/gb/en-GB/details/porsche-911-carrera-gts-preowned-0Z3Z0N

Just had notification through from my energy provider, my current tarif is due to expire at the end of July. From approx £150 per month, the cheapest new tarif they are offering is just over £450 per month, a 3-fold increase, and that has a variable element built in to it due to "government policy" on charges for infrastructure and other crap. I knew prices had risen considerably this year, but 3-fold? Option of fixing it for 1, 2 or 3 years. I think that probably for the first time ever, one year would be the best option. I'll also check other suppliers for pricing...... That sounds a lot Chris, even at the new rates. I”d shop around and compare both the standing charges and rates. I’ve note seen any fixed deal that’s better than variable.

Have you lost the original? I lost the VW badge off my Polo in 1985 to a couple of teenage Whitley Bay rappers. In da hood. The colour has faded. Remove the badge Chris, it will look better without it and I’m sure you’ll still remember it’s a Kuga.

Somewhere approaching £45. Not sure whether or not to replace it, or buy a £4 "look-alike" sticker off the internet instead First rule of a quiz…you need to know the correct answer….it’s £30.99

Any better? A GGT / Green Gussied Truck! The PTS colours are shown on the configurator now, this is Porsche Racing Green. PTS pushes ‘my’ spec just over £90k which is madness.

I could see that happening but at £300K, they will remain the preserve of the mega rich. Don't worry they will be 50k after one year. Possibly, but it will be £20k to extend the warranty!

I filled the Golf up when I was in MK today as full fat petrol was 6p a litre cheaper than my local place. It still cost £92 to fill up and the fuel light wasn’t even on….. £92 to fill a small hatchback!!

I don't know why but I thought your Alpina was left hand drive? Anyway, I'm having a really big brain challenge on this. So the car you sold for £10,750 is now worth nigh on £26k because somebody has spent some money on it? WTAF??? Keep the Jag under the protective tarp for a few years, then give it a service, put some new tyres on it….and it will be worth double what it is now! The second Alpina was LHD.

I'm not buying any Cayman with a four cylinder engine, and the six-cylinder ones are silly money for anything remotely recent. As regards the M2 Comp, um yes, ish. Barring the Z1, all the cars I've owned were the go-faster versions of mainstream models, so now I'm more keen on something that is a purpose-designed sports car, rather than a gussied-up saloon, however good. Is this a change of thought/requirements then or in addition to a 'gussied-up' SUV? I'd be going to have a look at the F Type P450 if I wanted a sports car at a similar price point.

Lead times aren't getting any better and the estimates given at time of ordering don't seem all that accurate in a lot of cases. I don't have the patience for it, once I've decided I want something then even the old world of 3 months seemed like forever. I really should be ordering two cars, but I can't summon the enthusiasm at the moment.
A friend of mine ordered an RS3 Vorsprung at the weekend and has been told it will be 6 months, the hatchback would have been over 12 months. If it does come in 6 months, he'll be very happy as other options he looked at were 18 months plus.

Yours may well look dated next to the new one, but it still looks a lot better!
Styling aside, it's a bit more interesting than a Tesla and the realistic range is reasonable. Interesting that it feels quick enough, that's instant electric torque for you, as the normal ICE performance measurements aren't anything special.
Were you seriously considering one?

It sounds like my sort of car. Is the manual gearbox definitely coming to the 3 litre? Yes. There's a piece on it in Evo, but they didn't get to drive it properly. If you don't have the mag.... www.evo.co.uk/toyota/supra/204883/toyota-gr-supra-manual-2022-review-a-six-speed-manual-gearbox-makeoverBack to the OP. I think the Supra is an interesting option and don't get why people complain about the BMW interior, as that can only be a good thing imho. My view on the styling is a bit mixed, but it feels like decent value with car prices as they are at the moment.

What would we be over here, about $8-9 dollars a US gallon? Yes, $8.00-$8.50 a US gallon I think based on £1.75-£1.85 a litre

I’m going to have to have another look at the spending money budget, as we’ve got 4 x Adults and a child to feed. We’ve got a big luxury truck booked, if it’s a Navigator then it will have a V6 otherwise it’s a V8. The Navigator will be over 3 tonnes loaded with passengers and luggage, single figure mpg around town?! We reckon we were around $100 a day per person for food, coffees etc. If you have two boys who want 3 courses then you better up that by about 50%. The cheapest petrol is about $4.60/gallon for 89 Ron, 91 Ron is about 25 cents more and 95 Ron is around $5/gallon Thanks John. The cost will be what it is, but even so.... I'm not planning on spending nearly £8k on meals out on a 2 week family holiday. So one course and desert back at the Villa it is...! Even at those fuel prices and 15mpg it will be cheaper than running my car and broadly what I expected.

Re the Ford Escape…. Sounds like a decent car and fine for a couple of weeks trundling around. It just feels wrong that a US hire car has a 4 cylinder engine, but unfortunately more and more are going that way.

I've only seen the Evo review so far which I've linked below. I need to watch a few more but Jethro, who happens to be one of my o to journos, was far from impressed. Comes to something if he thinks the 4cyl auto will be the one to have. I've watched a few reviews and he's not the only one that has suggested the smaller engined car could be better. One thing to bear in mins is there does seem to be a big difference between the comfort and sport chassis in terms of how they are on the road, Harry M's video has a really good comparison between the two.

Not worth a new thread on the X1. It was fine for what we needed / used it for, enough space for the cases in the boot and plenty of room inside with the car seat behind Lindsay. It was comfortable enough, even on badly surfaced roads (19" wheels, std suspension) and it was nice to be using iDrive again, it really is the best infotainment system I've used. One downside was the ventilation, the upper vents didn't put out much volume of air and when you set it to face level, the air mainly came out of vents on top of the dashboard which you can't adjust for direction and were partly obstructed by the screen.
We only did 340kms in the week, but it took ages to get anywhere, the average speed was only 32.8kmh / 20mph over that 211 miles. It averaged 41.5mpg which I think is pretty good considering the low avg speed and amount of stop/start on narrow roads. On the drive from the hotel back to the airport, it averaged 56.6mpg with an average speed of 32mph, that was c40% motorway when it seemed to easily get into the 60s mpg.
No issues with Sixt again. It had quite a lot of marks on it (it had done 44k KMs) and we had to drop the keys in the box, so didn't speak to anyone when it was returned, but the invoice has come through now and the only charge is for the car seat. That was £85 for the week, but better than lugging one of ours around the airport and it was brand new with Isofix and top tether, so a decent seat.

I was speaking to someone over the weekend who had recently used WBAC and he got a better price than Motorway. They didn't knock him down on price when he took the car in and the guy there said they weren't incentived to get the price down, they are paid a small amount extra if they get the condition accurate to incentives them to check the car properly. So as Bob says, you should be fine if you are completely honest
I've heard good things about motorway, but with the market softening a bit and dealers stock increasing prices won't be as good as they were a couple of months ago.
Carwow is another option, works the same way as Motorway.

An XFR-S on the M40. Looked well loved, but had the big rear spoiler which is so out of place and ruins the car.
