Today on my way to work, on the local green across the road from the hospital it appears that a group of "Travellers" have arrive and set up camp. Lots of shiny new-looking supersized SUVs and mega-caravans...... Will be interesting to see what happens and how large the mess they leave behind is When I went home, they'd gone, although there was some mess left behind which is still there this morning

I parked next to an X5 this morning and it was wearing a brand new set of winter tyres - not the Cross Climate style ones!

I drove a couple of them in 2014. They're awful and if you'd been in the market for a pickup would've been better off buying ANYTHING else secondhand. However, having said that if you were going to drive across fields with bales of hay in the back it was probably fine and had a long warranty for when you inevitably broke it.....
I saw a Ssangyong Tivoli XLV last night (I had to check their website as I didn't know it existed!).

I saw a Ssangyong Tivoli XLV last night (I had to check their website as I didn't know it existed!). One of the guys in my flying club has a Tivoli, his second in fact. Had a MG3 for a while, but his wife didn't like the auto box on that, preferring the one in the Tivoli. Each to their own I suppose.

He is a rare and unique thing - a buyer of the MG3 and a twice buyer of the Tivoli! Have you ever asked him why?

I think the argument is that Ssangyongg offer long warranties and certainly the last one I drove - a 62 plate Rexton with the Merc diesel (5 pot?), autobox and LOTS of toys - was probably as good as, say, a Shogun but for less cost.
It was probably on a par with something like a 2007 Disco and probably not that much more expensive than a used one but with the advantage of being new and warrantied.
They also used to make a big deal out of the weights that could be towed which was presumably attractive to caravanners. I expect a lot of them are resolutely NOT car people.

Prior to the first Tivoli, his previous car was a 51-plate original Megane that cost him £500! The (first) Tivoli came about when his wife refused to even sit in it any longer, never mind drive it, and that was the best deal going on an affordable new car at the time. To be fair, it does have a lot of toys and he's far from a speed demon; as he said, now he's just retired, it'll probably do him until he can no longer drive and he's happy with that.

Today: A Corsair convertible (can't be many of those left) and one of those wonderful 1970's SAAB estate things (93? 94?) on a K-suffix plate looking in great shape and with a family aboard, laden with luggage

I saw a Vauxhall Frontera 5 door at the weekend, it was one of the earlier pre-facelift ones.

I was surprised, especially as it was red (or at least it had been red until the paint faded!). It wasn't in exceptional condition but wasn't a rust coloured collander either.

Current shape M5 approaching a junction and presumably dropping down gears manually. Sounded a million times better than an M3/4.

Almost forgot - on Saturday morning as I ventured up the M3 towards the M25 I was passed by a convoy of 3 stretched 6-door Mers, previous-generation E-classes, I think.
A few minutes later a further convoy of 3 6-door Mercs of same shape went past.
Now I don't suppose that there are that many 6-door stretched Mercs around the south-east, so that must have represented a reasonable percentage of the population of the cars. I wonder where they were going, and why? Each appeared to only have a driver/chauffeur on board

When I got back to my car in the multi-storey last night I heard the distinctive, slow hammer drill, sound of a current 6 pot M Car starting up and idling, it's not an attractive noise. Sure enough an M2 dawdled past shortly after at which point it sounded a bit better I'd like to hear one being extended at some point because I can't think that I've heard one at high revs.

I keep mine in the Sport setting for throttle etc most of the time but if you want to get a bit anti social, Sport Plus brings some additional exhaust burbling and a few pops and bangs. Start up in Sport Plus just sounds like you're showing off with a very quick burst to 2,000 rpm and then a few pops and gurgles as it settles down - it's one for the boys and not one for the neighbours. Start up for me in the morning is switching the sport part of the exhaust off otherwise I get comments at the weekend which suggest that they heard me leaving early more often than they liked!

Twice in the past couple of weeks I have been passed on the M3 on my way to work by a grey BMW 2-door coupe with a very loud and "fruity" sounding exhaust, badged a 320d. Today when I came off the motorway, I drew level with at the roundabout at the end of the slip road and noted its plate. Just done a DVLA check, and it's a 335i with what must be an after-market exhaust and maybe some tuning mods too ! (07 plate with over 120,000 miles)

In NI I've seen lots of Porsches and BMW M cars but not a single AMG or RS Audi. Not even sure I've seen an S Audi...

Just spotted the/another M5 again. They also like a Range Rover. Seen several Velars (still don't like them) and 3 or 4 new Evoques.

An absolutely gorgeous silver 1950s 300SL roadster, top down, red interior, motored past us at lunchtime heading from Aldeburgh to Thorpeness. Utterly stylish.
Not the first time I’ve seen it, so its owner must live around and about.

Out with the dogs earlier and spotted an i3 charging at a house I see it parked beside quite often. Nothing special in that, but parked next to it was an R32 .. .. .. Skyline! Talk about chalk'n'cheese!!

I saw a late 70s Pontiac Trans Am in a back garden in deepest Kingskettle last night. Sadly it, along with the 1999 Jag XK alongside it looked as if they hadn't moved for a very long time.

Robin Reliant wobbling its way down the A19 this morning. Not since the Sinclair C5 have I seen something less suited to our modern roads and traffic. I genuinely felt afraid for the guy.

A red and not too far from stock Ford Orion - that'll be a booted Escort to our younger members. Amazing how small it looked parker between an XE and a 3 series.

Lovely car with a very good sized boot. Offloaded it when you had to pop the bonnet and hit the starter motor with a big spanner to start it.
