Had a Nissan Juke for the weekend. not much to say about it- the eco mode is slow, the sports mode is too jerky and the standard mode is fine. I normally rent with work so everything is included and didn’t think about it this time as I was using points for a private rental. Just before leaving, the girl from enterprise asked me if I wanted to upgrade the insurance for £19 a day. I decided to as it dropped the excess to £100 from £1500 per incident. About 10 miles later on the M11, a Porsche Cayenne threw up a stone which cracked the windscreen, which they charge for. Pain that it happened but could have cost more. The car did the job…

I always take the additional cover.
It paid off spectacularly one time when I hired a luton van. Got in after signing the paperwork, reversed a few feet to enable me to pull round an obstacle and put a massive crease up the bonnet of a Toyota Auris that'd parked up behind me in the 30 seconds between walking round the van and engaging reverse!
In my defence the place the hire vehicles got parked for collection was somewhat inconvenient and the guy who checked the van pre-departure for dents didn't alert me to the Auris despite standing next to the van.

How much are they charging? Hopefully an excess rather than the full cost of a windscreen?
I've just renewed by Annual Worldwide multi-trip excess insurance, only £48 (£60 less £18 through top cashback) and can be used on courtesy cars as well as hire cars. Bargain.

Your experience of driving the Juke matches my own. It got me from A to B in kind of an emergency though, so there's that.
I took out Questor insurance a few years ago, on the recommendation of a few on here; Enterprise still tried to talk me into their own additional cover!
Another reason for ditching them for Uncle Arnie .. ..

Only charging the excess and not the full amount. They even overcharged me for the rental and I had to request a refund after they decided to charge me the full amount, another amount and the insurance on top. I’d used points to get the rental in the first place so need to make sure they refund me the £200 overcharged amount.
The excess was £100, a pain but at least it’s not the £1500 they’d have charged me otherwise!

The lady behind the desk swore blind that my annual multi trip cover didn’t cover all sorts of things that it definitely did. I think the annual policy was £40 odd quid - they were asking for $180 euros for 7 days. Minimum of $350 cost for any damage even if just a small exchange of paint. Similar if you need to be towed.

The Panda had 1700 km on it and was totally blemish free.
Interesting car island. There were dozens of I guess 40 year old single cab Japanese pick ups. Also the sides of the roads were littered with what looked like abandoned cars.

Many of the roads down near Sitiea where I headed were unpaved
