I always wanted a Ferrari. I have long admired the 456GT. There must be a reason why I won’t buy one as I pass my mid 50s into late 50s, mortgage free and all that. No idea why I wouldn't just jump in. Ah. I see in 2021 it was serviced by a garage literally walking distance from my house. Then less than a year later required corrections following a “full” health check yet in the (less than) 2 years since has required an air con overhaul. So yeah. Maybe not.

That’s not too bad, less than I’d expect to maintain a 20+ year 12 cylinder Ferrari. It’s only £40k, that’s a lot of car for that money (same as a fairly basic new electric MINI…) and doesn’t need much man maths to make that cheap motoring when you take depreciation into account!

I don't think those costs fairly typical. When I spoke to Radley Motors a few years ago they reckoned on most years budgeting 2-3K and then every 5 years you might get a 5K bill. I guess its all about buying right at the start.
Dare I say its cheap compared to the depreciation on something modern.

I still lust after the 456 and also have a weakness for the 550.
But would probably scratch the itch with a Maserati instead, having driven both the 4200 Coupe and the later GranCabrio and thought both very lovely.
