What was the last car you owned that you did 100mph in?
Haven’t done it in the Mondeo, but I did it several times in the X5 I owned in California. The final time was driving uphill on an empty mountain road (OR-62) beside Crater Lake in Oregon. Maybe it’s the car but I’m not tempted to drive as fast over here, then again a 2 litre 4 pot diesel doesn’t rev like a 3 litre twin turbo petrol V6…

My current one. I'm glad sometimes I didn't get a 30d .. .. multi-lepton velocities are just too easy to attain, without realising .. ..

I've never done 100mph in any of my cars; the first few weren't capable of such speeds anyway. I did see 100mph on the speedo of the Citroen Visa once, but it was on axle stands with no front wheels fitted at the time.......

I don't think I've ever owned a car that hasn't gone over 100mph.

100mph? I mean, come on, you have to don't you? All my cars are run through that but Her Indoors would have killed me if I tried to get the 500s up to 100mph (as if!) or the Qashqais.

If it has to be personally owned, then never. None of my cars were capable of doing it I think.

All of them, with the exception of the 4 speed wheezers - Mk1 Fiesta, Mk2 Escort. Even my non turbo Renault Extra 1.6d got wound up to an indicated 105.

Last one of mine that didn't see 100 was a Fiat Uno that I owned from 1991-93.

I refuse to incriminate myself. However at Palmersport only a month ago I was well over 100 in the M4, Single seater, JP Le Mans and the Ginetta. I wasn't really looking but the Caterhams were probably only about 85/90mph.

Current one. On the Autobahn.
I can’t remember the last car of my own that I didn’t. Probably the LWB transit I had to ferry the 250 production bike in.

I dreamed that I once cruised at an indicated 130mph in my 4ltr S Type. I believe that in reality it may have been limited to 150 or something like that? My Elan SE went quite fast too but I can't remember what I dreamed I saw on the dial. Also I got stopped by plod on the A19 and fined £100 with I forget how many points put on my licence for averaging something slightly over 100mph in my company 1.6 Montego. Happy times These days I can't speed as my foot starts to tremble, no doubt one positive side effect of the stress and anxiety that I've spoken about in other threads. These days I'm happier watching how my Evoque rates my driving than mph.

I haven’t done 100mph in the Fiat. But that technically isn’t mine anyway.

I’m trying to remember but I think the fastest I’ve ever driven one of my own cars was 140mph on the autobahn in the 156 GTA.
I also certainly saw the far side of 130mph on the autobahn in both the green Z1 and the 440i.

Might have hit 100 a few times heading back south down the M40 over the years. That motorway is like a proper racetrack at times but I've seen enough camera vans along it to just stick to slightly more legal speeds. The M6 toll can be a bit like that too but they do patrol it a bit more these days for that very reason.

Possibly done it a few times in the Scirocco - can’t remember when I might have last done it but if I did, it wouldn’t have been very long ago. Haven’t done it in the Mini - must have a go sometime. Might have got pretty close in the Elgrand but if I did I might have bottled it at 95 - did have all the seats bar one full though. I’ve had the Minor beyond 90 which was much more of a thing than doing 100 in a car capable of doing 140. Fastest I’ve ever seen on a speedo might have been 140 in 1989 in a Sierra Cosworth

I'm sure it would take it in its stride - both our earlier, less powerful ones would do it easily - whenever I got a new car, it used to be part of the 'ritual' to take my car-mad nephews for a ride and (maybe) get to 100 down the by-pass near their home. Now the youngest is a photographer and has done shoots for hi-end car companies and been loaned a supercar, a super luxury 4x4 and a hi-speed EV and has travelled (on the continent) at greater speeds than I ever have!
