EDIT: For the "heated steering wheel club" members - I suppose someone could produce a watch with a heated back side (oooh er, matron) so that it does not provide a cold "sting" to the wrist when you first put it on; I suppose I'd be prepared to classify that as a luxury I am a fully paid up member of the heated steering wheel club but I wouldn't thank you for a heated watch. To be heated it would also need to have a battery and I prefer my watches without one (for no rational reason other than I do).

I do find the idea of a "luxury watch" amusing...... a watch is watch is a watch. It's really not you know. But applying your logic; a car is a car....

Cars are somewhat different to watches (and chickens) Yes, I have bought a luxury chicken. They are available at good butchers and are actually called "poules de luxe" - literally "luxury chicken" . Most chickens in this country are slaughtered at between 6 and 8 weeks. Luxury chickens are allowed to forage outside, grow slower and slaughtered at 11 to 12 weeks. They taste like chickens used to before they were intensively farmed. They're like good wine to plonk. Unless you think wine is just wine?

Down South we have to make do with "This is not just chicken, it's an M&S chicken"
I'll get my coat.... or rather, I'll put my cape on

Been reading the latest evo then, Twelfth? I looked at some of the Helgray watches about a year ago, and decided against. Seem decent enough value though - my decision was just personal preference. Of the two, I like the Omologato better, I think the colours suit it more and it will have more appeal for longer. Or I could sell you a Roue model, or this BMW watch?

The Omologato catches my eye a bit more than the Helgray but the Helgray has a better movement. They are also a bit different in size at 40mm for the Omologato and 45mm for the Helgray. I keep looking at one of these for totally irrational reasons: Beaverbrooks have it significantly reduced in their sale but it's still way too much to blow on a whim.

Been reading the latest evo then, Twelfth? The Omologato has been in a couple of mags and I really like the look of it but also really don't need another watch!

This will probably be anywhere from 20-50% off by Xmas if the usual CW discounts kick in. Their pricing strategy would totally put me off picking up anything at full retail

Has anyone been wearing a watch during lockdown?
I haven't except very occasionally.

I thought that. But it hasn't panned out that way.

I've been wearing mine every day as normal. Not because it doesn't feel right not wearing one, just because it makes keeping in touch with what's going on at work easier / less intrusive, especially in the evenings and at the weekend.

I wear one most days, occasionally forget though.

Wear one every day, and frequently swap during the course - but then I did that anyway.

Has anyone been wearing a watch during lockdown? I haven't except very occasionally. Nope. I make a concerted effort to don one whenever I go to collect the groceries but that's it. They're not lonely in that winder: at least they don't have to self-isolate. Interestingly my inherited Longines 1911 went off to Switzerland just as the Lockdown came into force. Goodness what's happened to it!

Their pricing strategy would totally put me off picking up anything at full retail I have my eye on this watch as well - like Olly I will be keeping a watching brief on their clearance price. The CW Moonglow model is pretty interesting too if you like things a little bit quirky. I continue to wear a watch every day, pretty much all the time apart from bathing and sleeping.

Stunts, have you seen Liv's P-51? Really like it, but don't want an auto.

16mm thick! I just looked for something 16mm thick to see what that looks like and could only find this old tape measure which is a mere 15mm...

Yes, I've seen it and it looks a nice thing but it's too big and too thick for me. Twelfth - I don't think there's any real need to buy a watch winder for automatic watches other than if you want to avoid the (very slight) effort of setting the watch before wearing it. If anything, they will accelerate the need for a service rather than overcome a risk of anything drying out or seizing up. The money saved on a watch winder can go towards buying another watch I have bought one more this year. Two will probably get sold.
