Drive the 992 gts at Wolverhampton opc today when the macan had its mot, which made an interesting comparison to the 4wd version . Firstly the car is more ‘alive’ you get a greater sense of connection probably due to the lack of weight at the front . Everything else is very similar but I did the 4 gts a disservice because it was so rapid I forgot to put the gearbox into sport at the beginning and that made a big difference in the 2 in reducing what I felt was lag but probably was the gearbox being in lazy mode in the 4. It was a great car as per the reviews ,very much an alternative to a gt3 and a turbo ,great handling and traction and unless you want to travel in all conditions at crazy speed then the 4wd is the lesser car overall I think . I’m not sure what the weight difference is but the 2 felt faster although this car also had the ‘lightweight’ pack (and very uncomfortable buckets) . Great cars both of them ,not sure they can tempt me away from the gt3. Food for thought . It’s interesting because they are probably faster on a road in the real world than the gt3 but they really don’t match the experience of that engine and also the steering is better in the gt3 and the pdk box feels better but that might just be the engine making it seem like that. As an aside ,ask about delivery on gts or a turbo and they tell you 12 months but as the car wasn’t specced to my liking suddenly after a bit of probing the dealer had about 8 911s of various sorts amongst about 25 cars still speccable for July production .

Does than mean you could get a factory production to your spec car for July?

According to the email yes ,they had 4 gts models of different sorts and 2 turbo S cabs ,but they wanted the order by the weekend as they need to lock specs down ,July production with probably august delivery .
