Cool idea but putting modern thinking into the past is a pet hate of mine because judging historic things like slavery, the workhouse and casual torture against modern values is just plain wrong. The fact we now accept them as wrong is a mark of the progress of society as a whole and we all like to think we’re making progress as a species. By the same token, that cars of the past did 8mpg, had no more safety features beyond steering and brakes compared to a horse drawn buggy and were adorned with body furniture that would impale the nearest child if the wind blew the wrong way means the gigantic SUVs and hideous Teslas of today are marks of progress.
Plus that reimagined Cayenne looks totally shite.

The Cayenne is laugh out loud awful, but the R8 is cool.

The Cayenne is laugh out loud awful, but the R8 is cool. It is but the point is that this is how it would look if they'd taken the same approach back in the 60s of making an off roader that looked like a 911. The R8 from the 70s does indeed look cool.

Back in the 60's, our road surfaces were such that you didn't need an off-roader just to drive down the local High Street.......

I wasn't driving in the 1960's but I do recall being driven by my parents at that time..... smooth roads, seatbelts weren't compulsory, no kiddie seats for us to be strapped into, several (ahem) schoolfriends in the back seats, given a lift by mum to school soccer away games....
