Prices are up at €2 here again. I’ve to get diesel later today and have used up my monthly fill ups from work so will be just getting enough to bring me into next month…

Same round here. Petrol is fairing better than diesel which is back to around 195p/L which is almost 30p more than Petrol at most filling stations. Not a great time to drive a van or pick up.

Shell posted profits of $9.5 billion for the third quarter of the year today. More than twice what they posted last year.
I’m in the wrong business…

When I reminded the Twitterati of this there was scant sympathy. Interestingly in these troubled times Tobacco shares are doing well…….

I get really pissed off when I hear Politicians and Union leaders harping on about the "huge" dividends paid to shareholders - without shareholders there would be no company and without dividends there would be no point in investing which just brings us back full circle to there being no company. Everyone needs to get a fair return otherwise the model doesn't work. If interest rates continue to increase dividends will have to increase to make holding shares more attractive than putting the money in the bank. If interest rates get out of control, the money will flow out of the stock market and stock values will fall. What we need is some stability to calm inflation and interest rates.

Exactly, it really winds me up as well. I wonder how many pension funds are invested in and benefiting from the profitability of these companies as well?

As unionised industry pensions are fairly well funded (think rail) then those ones, making the left’s moaning even more cunty.

E5 unleaded (super) 182.9p/litre at the local garage this evening. Petrol prices round my way appear to have crept up by a few pence per litre over the past month. Diesel is still well over 190p/litre

Last weekend I filled up in Holland, the home of Shell. £2.08 per litre. That’s the most I’ve ever paid for a litre of petrol. Ever.

I went to put diesel in the Cayenne at the sainsburys ,put the card in to prepay for £100 , put the diesel in then got into the car to drive off and saw that £100 gave me just fractionally over half a tank.

Our two local garages, one BP and one Shell have just reduced petrol back to 162 so are now cheaper than the big Tesco.

Diesel is still well over 190p/litre 170.9 here when I filled the Elgrand yesterday - 153.6 for E10 so only 3p more than the cheapest we’ve seen for most of the year.

Diesel prices have dropped a bit here - the local Tesco is down 3p to 186.9 but the independent further down the road has gone from 194.9 to 179.9

We have dropped to 159.9p for unleaded and diesel is 189.9p - a long way short of the South West it would appear!

It's probably because of the huge distance the fuel has to travel from Grangemouth Either that or Scotland is considered to be wealthy enough to afford it

Costco is 151.7 for ordinary unleaded (Herself filled up yesterday) and diesel was 178.7 last week when I filled up. £117 and change for ONE fill!!! It's probably because of the huge distance the fuel has to travel from Grangemouth Either that or Scotland is considered to be wealthy enough to afford it Never understood how we can live virtually on the doorstep of THE Scottish refinery and still pay way over the odds for fuel - even before all the latest scammery.

Was in Northern Ireland yesterday where it’s £1.50 a litre for petrol. Diesel wasn’t much more than that.

More on this. Tesco in Blairgowrie yesterday was 177.9 for diesel. Came home and the Tesco in Cumbernauld, which has always been a penny or two cheaper was .. .. .. 183.9!! Gouging bastards. Be going into Costco on my way to work then.

They've dropped diesel to 185.9p next to the office and petrol is still 159.9p. Lots of price gouging going on. I picked up a carton of 4 pints of milk from Tesco last night and it was £1.65. It was only £1.55 a week or so ago and it was £1.10 at the beginning of the year!

Those who own the filling stations must believe there is more money to be fleeced in the north west of Glasgow because all the petrol stations around here are similarly priced. I just haven't been over to Costco for a month or so and at this time of the year I am not really inclined to go and queue up for ages.

I was there this morning at about 8:20 and it was practically empty.

It's the 25 minute detour and the additional 8/9 miles which puts me off. Not far I know but half an hour earlier leaving the house in the morning feels a lot just to save a few £s

I can understand that. It's a mere detour for me, so not an issue.
