My local Shell station dropped their price for unleaded to 169.9p last night. Still too expensive and an empty forecourt. Any wonder there is a queue outside Morrisons 200 yds down the road, who are 159.9p now!

174.9p at my local Shell garage for unleaded and 165.9p at the Esso station beside the office which is only half a mile away. I think someone has a death wish for that Shell station because it is understandably empty of cars every time I pass. I filled up with Premium yesterday, at Costco at 164.9p. No-one around here is anywhere near 150p! If the petrol retailers all pay roughly the same for their fuel, someone is making a killing and trying to make fools out of their customers. The place with £149.9 that I posted the photo of yesterday is an independent family owned garage (the only one they have) - nearly always a queue (albeit of a reasonable size) there and I guess it means their shop (normal petrol station stuff) also does well with a plentiful supply of customers.

I think I know the garage you mean (On the road to Narberth) and I always make a point of going there when we are in the area. The ASDA place opposite my office is currently showing 167.7 for petrol and 179.9 for diesel. The cheapest around here. I filled up at 178.7 in Rochdale on Tuesday, after having seen 199.9 at Knutsford Services on the way up.

Local garage selling unleaded for 167.7, but that's for the E10 muck. I topped the Polo up on my way home from work, and E5 was 181.9 ! 14p/litre difference, or 63.5p per gallon difference. I can remember when a whole gallon cost half that much

Maybe put in E5 or a shot of Redex occasionally if you think you need it but otherwise you should be fine with regular unleaded.

Consistently the cheapest near me is the local Esso (tesco Express). I've been watching it over the past weeks as I drive past it a minimum of twice daily and they are by far the fastest to drop and always the cheapest (relative to others in the area of course). Currently at 159.9 for regular unleaded.
Oh - and agree with Alex - unless you've had the car mapped specifically for E5 you won't notice any difference

The Esso station next to the office is now down to 159.9p for regular unleaded but 182.9 for super unleaded. The local Shell station has cut its prices to 167.9p for unleaded but is 181.9p for super unleaded!
At least the price is coming down.

Costco are down to 151.7 for unleaded and 164.9p for super unleaded. For an average fill up, that is nearly a £7 saving. Unfortunately it tends to make me go in and buy some of their 6 pack of small Victoria Sponges which cost me nearly £6 and just add to the waist line! They are good though.

With the weak pound to dollar exchange rate I can't see prices coming down much more.

From a whole, huge warehouse? Surely you jest! I regularly get warned by Susan not to bulk buy in Costco so I tend to just buy what we need or in the case of the Victoria Sponges, want! I generally find they aren't particularly cheap except for their special offers when you need to buy 250 dishwasher tablets or 15 bars of soap.

Maybe put in E5 or a shot of Redex occasionally if you think you need it but otherwise you should be fine with regular unleaded. I know I should be fine with "regular" (muck) E10 but as the volumes of fuel used are comparatively low, I'm running the Fiesta and Polo on E5 for the time being. If the price gap gets too large, I may reconsider. (My daughter ran the Polo on E10 when she was using it, and she sticks E10 in her A1 since she's had it back post-repair whereas I was also running it on E5 when I "bedded it in" post repair).

Well I'll be driving from Sussex to Manchester then Leeds and back on E10 and I'm not expecting any problems. Can't guarantee that the tyre pressure monitor won't throw up more erratic warnings though!

I suggest that with the fall in the value of the £, we might all want to keep our tanks fairly full before fuel prices start to rocket again!
When we were in the US in May we got c $1.38 to the pound and now it is down at c$1.11/£1 - that's a 20% fall in value and a 20% increase in anything we buy which is priced in $

Lindsay filled the Golf up on Friday, £167.9 for V Power from the Shell garage next to her office, which is the cheapest full fat petrol in the area and the lowest cost per litre we've paid for 6 months.

Premium unleaded at Costco was 157.9p on Sunday morning. It is "only 97 octane" but our local Shell garage is 174.9p for VPower, having come down 2p over the last few days!
