Thoughts? Aside from 'turn the water cannon on the little shites, then horse charage them, then batton charge the remnants before arresting them for breach of the peace and charging them a share od the costs of the above?

Charge them with the criminal damages offences they commit and jail them. People will say it'll make martyrs of them but at least they'll be jailed martyrs and mummy and daddy can spend their savings hiring high priced barristers to get their release.

Stop giving them airtime would be a start.

The refusal of the police to arrest any of them is a disgrace. Part of the problem here is balancing the right to free speech and the right to protest against the rights of others to go about their business and getting mired in the subsequent legal battles. But some senior officers with balls making decisions wouldn't go amiss at times, I agree.

The refusal of the police to arrest any of them is a disgrace. The police in general seem to be going out there way to prove themselves useless. Far more interested in virtue signalling than doing the whole law and order bit.

A clear case of vandalism for which there is no excuse, lock them up in a proper prison and the tender mercy of their cell mates.

They'll soon learn that having a criminal record is not a good thing for when they grow up and try and get a job.

I remember years ago when I played golf that someone had driven, unseen, across a couple of the greens, done some donuts on one of them, etc and the police were actually quite keen to get them. So how is this different, apart from the fact that the XR people appear to be there and getting their photo taken so are consequently easier to identify?
While I understand the message I don't agree with the actions.

The message in this case is that they don't like the college selling land to a port and so believe they have the right to attack their property. It's no different to the eco-loons who damage cars.

I would set up a detention centre up in the North of Scotland. Somewhere unpopulated. ER activists arrested for criminal damage would be taken up there and held pending appearing in front of a (single) judge within 48 hours. Once a hearing was concluded they could be let out the front door with instructions to appear back at that court in Scotland if necessary.

Er, thanks for that. Why ship them up here, what's wrong with somewhere desolate, like Newcastle?
At lunchtime just now I noticed some of their stickers on a couple of large flower pots at the side of the street, each pot is hexagonal and there appeared to be a sticker on each side. One of my mates works for a firm that produces the lengths of bonded film that then get printed for stickers and I have an idea it isn't the most environmentally friendly process (he has to wear a filtered breathing mask) so perhaps the ER people could target themselves for the pollution created by making their stickers?

Don't the stoopid cunts realise that grass absorbs CO², the very thing they're all wringing their panties out about.

And as pointed out on the radio earlier, the college will now have to get people in to repair the damage, probably involving driving there and using machinery. Which means that their stupid stunt has actually helped add CO2 to the atmosphere.

I hadn't heard about this story before reading this thread. What a bunch of misguided people. They may have a valid point, but this absolutely isn't the correct way to go about it. Destroy something beautiful? Come on!
Of the ones they have arrested, I hope they find them all guilty and actually punish them with a significant fine. And a community services order to make good the damage.

If that happens I hope it involves some decent amount of gardening, just so they can experience the amount of work that the people who will be going to repair the damage they caused will have to do. I'm sure we can't know this but I have a strong suspicion that a lot of the ER types are probably town or city dwellers. What do they suggest those of us who live in the country do in future? I could work from home a couple of days a week but still need to go the 14 miles each way to the office for meetings, to collect paperwork, etc except I can't actually work from home because, as I do live in the sticks, my broadband is utterly shite and unpredictable. Maybe I should sell my already built house and move to a new-build in Dundee but then of course I'm supporting the creation of a shitload of pollution in the building of it!!

They need people to live in cities. Far easier to control us all that way. Cars would be banned (well except for the leaders who need to get about after all). Work parties would be sent off to work on the collective farms producing food, without the use of fossil fuels obviously. Welcome to the brave new world.

I like in the sticks and we have wireless broadband which is amazing. Might be worth seeing if that is available in your area.

The previous owners had it but we just went with BT. It's ok and we can usually watch Netflix but occasionally it buffers and I see that songs take a little longer to download on Spotify but we're not particularly heavy users at the moment compared to if we had to work from home.
