I've just been sent Halliwell Jones' 5 days of Mini offers.
3 Door Cooper is no deposit £199 a month for 4 years. Mini is paying £3121 deposit. Includes TLC. 5.9% Apr.
Minging 5 door is £209.
Seems pretty good.

Do they pay you for the 5 door? I've never been a Mini fan but when you see a Mk1 BMW version on the road it seems, for want of a better word, cute whereas the current one is a blob. Maybe it's just not selling well to the young female target audience who seem to still be in love with the 500 and have discovered the Vauxhall Adam as well?

I think they all want an A1 now.

There's only so many times you can reinvent the Mini and BMW have overdone that by about 6 models. Most of them missed the mark and quietly slunk off into obscurity thankfully and, with any luck, the 5 door munter will do the same.

They've been successful, created loads of UK jobs and relaunched a brand that was woefully under-invested in by all the various iterations of nationalised BL-ness and beyond. The shape and size may not be to everyone's taste, but that's personal choice for you. The 5 door is even growing on me slowly and I'd rather one of those in Cooper S trim than a lot of other stuff. Actually the Mini is a good example for this election - Jeremy Corbyn take note - nationalisation isn't a panacea to fix stuff! Far from it.

I like the new new new Mini and that's a tempting offer. Is that a PCP or contract hire?

I don't get the hatred either. I've not driven the current model, but have been in pretty much every version of the previous model and they were all great little cars, even the basic One. I don't think I could bring myself to buy a 5 door based on looks, but the 3 door and new Clubman have grown on me.

Funny a Mini is never a car I've been in as a passenger or driver, however I can see the appeal, but he point about the oddly placed hatred of the new models is perfectly valid. Had Ze Germans taken the brand out of Britain and started building them in The Fatherland then I'd expect there to be a lot of ill feeling, but BMW have done a lot for the uk car manufacturing industry and I really hope we've not scuppered it with Brexit.

I don't like the way they look and that is it. Im glad they have been successful, due to the jobs investment, but the newer cars, certainly, are not for me. An early Cooper S might just be allowed in my ultimate garage.
