My name is Ed and I have a confession to make, I've bought a Volvo
protect-eu.mimecast.com/s/wTckCwkAHgxRC9pKkI?domain=autotrader.co.uk
Having looked at various options to be fair it was by far the best option.
We looked at the x5 but it just felt a bit old hat, the GLE was a non starter as it just a bit meh. Front runner for me was either an F-Pace S, GLC43 or X3 40i but had to remember it was a family bus for the missus so my hooning potential didn't matter.
Always liked the look of the XC90, love the interior which I appreciate may be a little marmite but its a stunner compared to a Disco 5.
I must be getting bloody old.

I like these as family buses. I didn't realise you had so many children.

Agree with Racing, good family bus and would be on my shortlist if I needed a lot of space. I’ve only been in a new XC60 T8 which I liked, comfortable and with plenty of performance.

One of the best family buses out there. Excellent choice.

Nothing wrong with it IMO. The XC90 is an excellent choice. Thing is, I'm old school. I don't drive Volvos. I can admire them from afar which I have with their new designs and always liked the 850T5 but I never thought I'd own one.
I daren't tell my dad in case he disowns me. Cuts me out of the will as I must be the milkman's son. Volvos were always the kryptonite to fast cars. constantly getting in the way, driven by some old dear or a Doris on the school run. A man with elbow patches and a pipe.
What have I done

To make matters worse, it's not even a 5 pot petrol turbo, it's a 4 pot diesel.....

All the XC90 owners I know like them so there must be something in that. And new wheels require congratulations regardless, so well done.

Is it an Inscription rather than the Inscription Pro it's advertised as? Something struck me about the seats and the wheels (I do remember useless stuff....). Just checked a 2017 price list online and the Pro comes with perforated leather and 21" wheels, along with 4C suspension, heated wheel/screen, massage seats etc. Edit: The Pro wasn't available to MY2018, so it's an Inscription. Volvo main dealers have got it wrong as well. I've now got a link to the 2017MY car if you're interested..... 2017MY XC90

There is no such thing as "a typical Volvo driver" anymore, the products have come on in leaps and bounds over the past 10 to 15 years. Some of them are even nice to drive, unlike the older "big estates". That looks like a good spec, but for me it's another of the "small barns" rather than "large cars"; it's vast

The advert carries a massively misleading statement about the recovery of VAT by a business - in 99% of cases a business cannot recover the input VAT - it is just an additional cost. If it were being used as a full time taxi or a dual control driving school car, then yes VAT could be recovered as it could if the car was never taken home at night and was used 100% for business use only, with insurance excluding any private use.

You can just wear sunglasses all the time when you drive it. And get a "my other car is a Porsche" sticker for the rear window.

It’s the wife’s car and that’s all the excuse you need. Looks good to me, I like the current Volvo’s, especially the interiors.

No shame there - current Volvos are lovely bits of design, for a family car it's a great call. After all, who needs 500bhp to drive across Europe regularly in a car full of kids and luggage.....................................

Lets off road! before we get stuck on a 5% incline on wet grass I’d stick a set of the (Volvo marked) Pirelli Scorpion Verde All season tyres on it. Cheaper than the summers and will be good all year round, it’s one of the standard fit LR tyres iirc. You won’t get embarrassed on a bit of wet grass either!

Ours is on Dunlop summers , but was looking at all seasons the other day. Nexen N’blue 4Season Seem To get good reviews and they’re not too costly
I didn’t see scorpion verde’s, So I’m Presuming they’re not available on the size I need
