Yes, to both!
He's a very unassuming man in person, but has that inner determination they all have to varying degrees. As does John McGuinness, who did a "demonstration" lap on Saturday, despite his own leg re-breaking a few weeks ago.

Just heard that Adam Lyon from my home town was killed at the weekend in the TT. A few of my biking friends knew him and a couple were over to watch him. Very sad but these guys know the risks and love what they do.

I wonder how long they will allow the TT to continue, it is a definite risk of removal from the calendar but as has been said the riders know the risk. It is though a sad event when a rider is seriously hurt or killed.

It is though a sad event when a rider is seriously hurt or killed. It was in some serious doldrums some twenty or so years ago, some of which was reversed by the epic battles between Hislop & Fogarty in the early- to mid-nineties; I think a combination of Monster energy sponsorship (vile stuff btw, has anyone ever tried it?) and the centenary celebrations in 2007 really brought the crowds back. Facebook and the like too, I follow 2 or 3 pages solely about TT (BB is on at least one of them too) and there's always a lot of banter, tips, discussion etc on them; it all helps I suppose. In that respect, it's probably not going away any time soon.

Riders killing themselves is obviously tragic but they all know the risks involved so let it carry on. The biggest worry Is if spectators ever get in the way of an out of control bike because as soon as that happens it'll probably be curtains for the event.

This explains the future of the TT: freelancer account deleteNo one is forced to do it; no one is forced to watch. It's a sad indictment of the UK media that the TT is only ever in the news when a rider is killed or severely injured - in other countries (especially Japan) men like John McGuinness, Michael Dunlop, Ian Hutchinson and Cameron Donald (loads of others) are revered as heroes. As to spectator injuries, the NW200 had a bad spectator incident two years ago and the victim (a woman watching from her own front garden) insisted that the racing should never be stopped. You either get it or you don't.
