Pile of shite Autoglass (insurance approved company) can't do it for a week and it's cracked right the way across. Anyone know a decent company that can do it quicker and do a good job at the same time? Happy to pay for a screen if I can get it done by Mon or Tue! Round our way, such a delay is more indicative of the shite state of the roads. Why I'm not on windscreen number 6 is anyone's guess! (I probably will be by this time next week, now I've said that. )

The windscreen on the 'TurD was cracked by debris when it wasn't that old as my wife was driving up to Nottingham to see elder daughter 2 or 3 years back. Similar issue, Autoglass arranged by/through the insurers to be done outside our house but with approx 10 days delay due to lack of available replacement windscreens. Autoglass no longer have depots where you can take the car to be fixed, it has to be done roadside or at your place of work if you have one.
They did a good job, just annoying about the delay but fortunately in our case, the crack did not interfere with the driver's line of sight.

I moaned about the time it took auto glass and once I got through to someone in charge they booked me in next day using a contractors and not auto glass themselves. Worth getting back on the phone and having a moan.

I am dreading the day the TVR needs a new screen. They are available, but removal and refitting is difficult without trim damage and the horror stories about the major replacement companies are not nice.
I will upgrade the Defender screen to heated at some point.

If I have to get a new screen it will need to be made from scratch, possibly perspex at that.

I think having any windscreen replaced is an issue really. The Shogun windscreen had to be replaced last year and since then the wind noise from the screen has been far worse. It does not leak water at all, but I think a new screen never seems to fit as well as the original as the body has bound to have flexed even fractionally over time and no replacement ever fits as cleanly as the original. I think I'm going to try some clear sealant in a few key places as you can see where the water seal is not quite sitting flush with the new screen.

That might or might not make a difference to left/right eye crossover, or the Cashcow effect.

The Porsche is just a rubber seal and push with your feet job!

I know that there was unhappiness in the Fiat Coupe community as replacement screens fitted never fit properly. I did hear that one of the specialists - who also breaks cars that are certifiably beyond repair - was occasionally contacted out of desperation by Autoglass and would oblige if he could (and the owner agreed, of course).
