Special discounts as its their 100 year anniversary, not discounted because BMW have fallen behind Merc and Audi and are struggling for sales. No not at all. On our visits to the dealers, BMW was really quiet and there was an air of desperation, Mercedes were busy(ish) with enough people about and a few sitting at desks crunching the numbers. However Audi was absolutely jumping with almost every desk filled and lots of people looking at cars - it does strike me as a bit strange that the make which offers the least discount, the highest apr rates and the worst service (at least in my part of the world) should apparently be getting all the business. Maybe the snow and ice have played into Quattro's hands when the likes of 4Matic and XDrive are perhaps less well known to Mr General Public. It seems the native British middle classes do love their VWs and Audis. They are seen as less ostentatious and more "old money" than a Mercedes or a BMW, notwithstanding that this ceased to be the case some time ago, because perceptions take ages to alter.

I'll have a look at that as well, thanks. This is starting to get a bit of momentum which is worrying for my bank account...... Have a look at CarWow as well, you enter your spec and dealers quote. I tested it on a Golf R and it was nearly about £600 less than coast2coast, which was lower than Broadspeed.
Carwow blocked by the net nanny at work, sadly. I'll have to wait until tonight!
For my chosen spec coast2coast are saving me £8,859 for OTR price of £40,101 which is 18%

Apparently BMW are offering special discounts this year to celebrate their 100th year ?? It's not being widely advertised by the sounds of it, and I've just found out "by accident" on an on-line review site Special discounts as its their 100 year anniversary, not discounted because BMW have fallen behind Merc and Audi and are struggling for sales. No not at all. Europe-wide, not just UK for the 100th.... or are their sales behind Audi and M-B across the entire continent?

I just spotted that one on Autotrader. It doesn't have electric seats sadly. Makes you think, though, even after discounts it's dropped another £8k in that short time, unless BMW dealers have been beating £40k new.

I have a carwow quote for a C63 Premium pack with HUD, upgraded wheels, surround camera and metallic and it beats Coast to Coast - still a bit pricey at £61K and I have to take Mercs 5% apr finance or pay about £1,500 more!

That would be fine if I had £60K in cash but I don't I'm afraid. I'd need to borrow it from Lombard (or a good chunk of it) and that would preclude me from borrowing from Mercedes.
Something like this is what I would probably choose but I don't know if the price reduction from new is sufficient to justify an 18mth old car:

Good choice, its exactly how id want mine apart from I'd add the darker alloys. Still seems a lot of money but compared to a C43 its a lot more car.
Life's not a dress rehearsal etc. etc.

BMW garage were back on - they have found the perfect spec car for me with everything I want. It's an ex management car, 67 plate with less that 5,000 miles. Price? About £2,000 less than I can get a new discounted 18 plate, no subsidised finance, 5 months less warranty, worn tyres and no idea how it was run in! Think not.

Won’t a C63 have similar traction issues to the M4, albeit with a better noise to make up for it?
Agree about living life and not having regrets. There is a 900 mile 67 plate E63 for £67,950....V8, 4WD, good spec....that would be a treat!

There is a 900 mile 67 plate E63 for £67,950....V8, 4WD, good spec....that would be a treat! It absolutely does have the same traction issues but it is a slightly different kind of car. A bit softer so the breakaway isn't so brutal - probably due to the bigger engine, torque is more evenly spread instead of coming in with such a bang. It has a better exhaust note and is more comfortable on a daily basis. The M4 would trounce it in a head to head on a twisty road but having driven one I am not sure the Merc driver would be that bothered because it creates its own occasion through the engine note and more supple ride whilst still being massively competent.
BMW really should have done to the M3 and M4 what they did with the M5 and made them 4WD. That would probably have allowed them to stick to the standard M3/M4 suspension firmness which is a good bit better than the Competition pack, without the "throw you in a hedge backwards" moments that the car seems to suffer from.
An E63 would tick all the boxes apart from the looks department but at nearly £70K I'd be down the Porsche garage. That's just too much money.

I've never read of the C63 having traction issues, although you can't be sure if the mags are just not mentioning it because they like the car - they appear to have fallen out of love with the M3/4 and are only now disclosing its issues.

I have driven a few and it is very easy to light up the rears but the traction control subdues everything if kept on. The M4 is a bit more of an animal. With TC fully on in the M4 it feels as though something is wrong with the car because it intervenes all the time and with it turned to the middle setting it spins the wheels easily even on part throttle although the TC will ultimately reign it in a bit if you try to go too daft.
It's hard to drive an M4 slowly whereas the C63 doesn't mind. As a daily driver the balance is definitely in favour of the Mercedes.

Is the change detectable? New lights front/rear and digital dials, so the AMG won’t be hugely different, although I’ve read it will have new twin scroll turbos. The biggest changes are new 2.0 petrol/diesel engines. Saddle brown leather is a new option! (Not sure about the UK)

This morning I saw a C63 convertible following an E63 Estate. Both were driven in a sedated manner by decided older-middle aged ladies, so you may be correct. Never seen an older lady in an M-anything!
