That looks like a deeply lovely thing. The price is not excessive IMO.

Wow, that's some review, I do have an issue with the price as 50k plus buys an awful lot of car but if its as good as they say what else is there apart from a Cayman.
The only problem they have is outside of France who under the age of 50+ even knows about Alpine

I'm in.
I love the original; this is a great looking homage.

I was never much taken with the original but I agree that this looks super.
I don't think the lack of brand recognition is necessarily a bad thing. After all, rehashes of classic brands and "having something different" are all the rage these days.

I'm in. I love the original; this is a great looking homage. +1... is it going to be sold through slected Renault dealers though? Humph, what sort of discounts are on offer

I'm not seeing the appeal. The rear end looks like it's from an entirely different car and those extra lights on the front look like they're from a curious 1990's Japanese aftermarket bodykit for an MR2.

Me neither. £50k for 4 cylinder Renault? Yes yes, I know it's the same for a 4 cylinder Porsche or Jaguar, but a 4 cylinder Jag/Porsche is a travesty anyway.

Lovely looking car and great reviews, I have a customer who placed a £2k deposit on one at Goodwood, he doesn't know final pricing yet, but mentioned he is likely to get it in the Spring.
He'll drop by in it when he has it, he's also the sort of guy who will probably let me drive it too.

Saw it up close at LeMans this year and I really like it.

I like the look of it but would never contemplate spending that much money on a 4 pot.
I look forward to the initial reviews being full of excitement followed, inevitably, by a retreat to the safety of the car finishing 2nd to the Cayman in the subsequent group tests.

I think people are going to have to get used to 4 cylinder engines becoming much more prevelant in sports cars in the future.

Sounds great to drive and I’m not bothered about the badge, but I’m not loving the styling or the 4 cylinder engine at that price level (same for the Boxster/Cayman). I’ve read that it sounds OK, due to the pops and bangs it makes, but I’d rather it was quieter if that’s the case. It’s probably a bit low rent inside for me (again, at that price level) as well and having to adjust the seat height with a spanner wouldn’t work for us at all.

The move to 4 bangers is obviously for emissions fakery and economy gains.
Although any economy gains go out the window once mega-boost turbos are added for big power.
I like the noise of a 4 pot turbo, but not when they have obviously synthesised exhaust notes and electronically-induced pop bang wankery. I'm looking at you, VAG. Every TT or Golf GTi that passes me sounds like it has a serious ignition fault or the exhaust system is about to shit a massive brick all over the road.

A four cylinder Porsche is only a problem if you have not driven a previous four cylinder Porsche, the 914. They are truly brilliant.

People seem to forget the 944 and 968, both equally loved by the usual suspect journos of old.

I remember the 944/968 won the Autocar handling award for a few straight years, I had forgotten those, and the 924.

I don't think anyone's forgetting the older 4 pot Porsches, its just that we've been spoilt by them subsequently sticking smallish V6s into their cars. It's the same as VW with the VR6, Alfa with the various GTAs, etc.

Looks and sounds great that. Amazing that it's 300kg lighter than the Porker.

That does sound better than the 4 cylinder Porsche, but nowhere near as good as mine.

I think people are going to have to get used to 4 cylinder engines becoming much more prevelant in sports cars in the future. They should already be used to it: the biggest selling and best loved sports cars in history were 4-pots. Step forward the MX-5, the MGB, Midget / Sprite, TR2/3/4, Lotus Elite (original one!), Lotus Elan, Lotus Esprit, Lotus 7.........shall I stop now?

All are cars which you can wring out to the red line every gear all day long and not get into licence losing speeds, while enjoying the B-road twisties. Surely that is what these cars are all about?
