Just reading about a new online shopping service that will deal directly with anufacturing giants Unilever, Mars, and Reckitt Benckiser. The article goes on to advise:
"...hundreds of household favourites including Weetabix, Walls ice cream, Dettol, Durex condoms and Dolmio sauces could soon be available to buy at much lower prices."
We buy all those things but it still made me laugh imagining this shopping basket stuffed with ice cream, Dettol and condoms. Some party, that....

Let me know when that website is up and running - that sounds exactly like my shopping basket!

We’ve just won a contract with a well known sportswear company. They will start selling directly to the public (on line / home delivery) from a UK base, they do it now but it’s fairly low key and supplied via Germany on a relatively long lead time and at great cost. I don’t know whether that saving will be passed into the customer or not, but they will be ramping up their marketing significantly. Another well known sports brand has started talking to us again after hearing about it.
The brands in the OP are really struggling for sales as supermarkets push own brands and consumers try and save money, so it makes sense from them to deal directly with the end consumer at a lower price

It sounds like some sort of buyers' club where they aggregate demand from potential consumers to get a better deal from the manufacturers. It's not new but it'll be interesting to see if the savings are really there. It's my experience that large manufacturers protect the prices of their premium brands from discounting as much as possible. Large detergent manufacturers will have a secondary brand that will be used to fight price competition from new market entrants e.g P&G will discount Bold to protect their market share rather than Aerial and Unilever will discount Surf to protect Persil.

What's Durex's sub-brand?: I want to avoid it as 5 kids is enough!

I'm guessing it's one of the 2 fraternally-linked brands based in Nürnberg?

I believe he means Adidas and Puma - weren't they founder by men who were brothers? Indeed. My little brother is Senior Director of Comps and Benefits at the one with three stripes. Office has no dress code but you MUST wear Ad***s if they make a product similar.

At least those brothers made a decent effort to name their companies individually, unlike the other 2 brothers in the grocery trade.

I still won't be familiar, Adidas shoes are too narrow for my wide plates. Can't remember the last time I tried on a pair that fitted me.
