I saw a UK registered, camouflaged Aston Martin SUV yesterday, in Vegas. I’ve seen it twice since, once easily winning the TLGP, but I was the only one trying! The camo is all DBX logos and cruising up and down the strip must be an essential part of the testing.

DB7 Vantage has been parked outside the garage along from my work this week. No idea if it's the owner/manager of the garage, as his usual daily Merc C220 is there too.

Not today, I haven't been anywhere. Last thursday on way to stupor market a Porsche 944/968, not sure which just a fleeting glimpse.

A white 570S going in one direction, and a white M4 going the other. I understand all the plusses about downsized turbos, and there are exceptions (largely V8 and V5 in configuration), but they both sounded pretty rubbish. The M4 in particular is a crude, barky, aftermarket sort of sound.

Earlier on I saw a Mk1 Audi TT with a set of after-market headlamps that made them look like a full reflector unit, they looked terrible but had a remarkable affect on the entire car making it look like a cheap Chinese knock-off in one swoop.

A few days ago, now, but saw an undisguised Defender on the A46. Looked pretty good in the flesh.

I wish I had averted my eyes but last night I saw a brand new BMW 1 series although initially as I had closed in on it from behind I was pretty certain it was some up spec Hyundai i30.
I suspect the only significant difference between the 2 cars, aside from perceptions of interior trim quality, is a vast gulf in price.

Definitely no instant recognition as a BMW.

Saw an Acura NSX, the current model. Looks good in metallic maroon.
Also saw a new Audi A8L, 998 Porsche GT3 and the new 7 Series. Not sure if I’ve seen one before. Weirdest one was a motorcyclist who posed for 20 minutes on or beside his bike, revving the engine every couple of minutes and then leaving. I was eating in a restaurant while he did it.

Possibly the most unusual of the year, certainly for me. A Karma Revero. Never even heard of them until one drove past me today. Electric sports car.

An immaculate 308GTB - tiny, delicate and utterly lovely.

I followed a Volvo XC90 along the right lane of a dual carriageway last night and it clearly had some sort of OTT adaptive lights.
When it approached a car in the slow lane and got to within about 15 feet I noticed the light beam coverage to the left partially switched off and then when it was a few feet past the slower car (and, of course the Volvo failed to pull over!) the left lane was re-illuminated.
This happened a few times before they finally pulled over.
I realise modern LED headlights can perform all sorts of exotic tricks but it strikes me as another one of these things that require extensive technology, add potential unreliability and cost a fortune to fix if the car is in a crash and add very little. Added to that it may be distracting for the lights to go on and off in your peripheral vision.

I think the adaptive lights (and particularly the LED ones) are fantastic. To the driver of such a car, following another on a country road in particular, they light up all the parts of the road you couldn't otherwise see and it gives a much better view forward. It also allows for much easier overtaking on roads you don't know too well.

I can understand that but I think that on a dual carriageway the way it changes as you're passing slower cars could be distracting for you and the other car.

It ought to be less distracting, as the lights adapt so as to avoid dazzling other drivers. Maybe the fact I haven't noticed any whilst driving at night is because they are so good?

It might've been more noticeable due to the Volvo not exactly tearing past the slower cars.

An added bonus is drivers have a better chance of noticing you when you light up the empty inside lane and some move over without you having to resort to main beam. Laser headlights are on another level again, but unfortunately I’m not on completely empty roads very often to get the full benefit.

The Matrix lights on a Velar that was approaching me on a dark night was incredibly impressive. The road was lit up like daylight in front and behind me, but I wasn't dazzled at all.

What were you driving? I'm fed up of being dazzled by the super-powerful lights of SUVs but that's sitting in the 320 which is quite low.

If they had voodoo lights and had the auto functionality switched on, you wouldn’t be getting dazzled.

It's always on full-size SUVs too.
