Saving whales seemed a better idea to me.

Nice that there employer lets them take all this time off work to protest and cause a general nuisance of themselves for the greater good.
Next question, how the fuck did those 40 protesters get to the port in the first place, teleportation?

I remember when one of their top executives was living in the tax haven of Luxembourg and was flying back and forth between there and their office in Amsterdam numerous times a month. Or when they were using their funding to gamble on the currency markets and lost fortunes. Greenpeace is first and foremost a business with a sideline in publicity stunts.

But only VW being targetted? Or is this the start of a wider campaign of twattery from Greenpeace?

According to the article I read, it seems that they have software that reduces the rate of use of Adblue once the level in the tank drops below a certain level, so that the tank lasts between the service intervals. Thus the pollution pumped out for that portion of each service cycle is way higher than the tested levels. VW are obviously so adept at writing cheating software that it was easier to do that then just fit a bigger Adblue tank..... I see that Winterkorn has also been charged with criminal offences in the US. But that the Germans will not extradite him.

Presumably they'll sacrifice a few lower level engineering people instead.
It was laughable from day one that anybody could possibly assume that the cheat software would only be on, say, the 2.0TDI in Volkswagens, rather than all diesel engines across the whole group.

I had assumed the software was in all VAG cars, and almost certainly other manufacturers as well, from the day the story broke!

Me too which is why I was a little surprised when their initial management reshuffle a couple of years ago simply brought people in from other areas of the VAG empire, rather than ones from outside whose hands would presumably have been less dirty.

My Dads Octavia had the cheat software removed so I’m pretty sure it has been all VAG cars from the start of the debacle.

It would be incredible to think otherwise IMO.
