Insurance companies are arseholes. Got some options that improve safety? In that case we will either not take them into accountvor actually charge you more.

I’ve just this morning swapped the Edge insurance into a Kuga Titanium X 189PS AWD and checked the wording. For more than it states mods after car has left the factory so all is well.
From Googling (and most hits are money saving expert) it would appear that all insurers are different. The consensus seems to be if your insurer bumps up the premium for have nav, or nicer seats you might want to try someone else that doesn’t.
Some of the stories suggest that for those that want you to specify, if you fail to mention something you will end up with base spec in a repair. You might lose larger wheels for example.

When you put the registration number of Mrs Sacamano's Qashqai into the insurance companyies' websites it comes up with the spec and optional safety features. It can't be too much of a technological leap to to input the VIN number and that will give a list of all the options fitted to each vehicle. That way someone who buys, for example a BMW M Sport for £40k pays a lower premium than someone who adds £10k of options.

Admiral request that you notify them of any factory options. They do and I have done so.
Looking at the Confirmation, which happens to be on my desk, it says: "Modifications: Exterior decorative changes, Windows - rear darkened 30%, Parking assist (optional extra), Brakes - uprated, Interior changes, Alloy wheels (optional extra)".

That's great but what do you do if you're the 2nd owner and don't have a list of the options fitted to your car?
