Perhaps it's just me getting old, but I find the idea of paying over £50k for a sports car with a 2.0 four cylinder engine completely unattractive, no matter how good the car:

And the idea that these things come so poorly equipped with stuff that would be standard on any other sort of car costing £50k is outright robbery.

With the top model being a 5.0 supercharged V8, a 2.0 turbo just doesn't seem right on this sort of car.

And also, how does the Porsche, having only been released in the last year or so, not have a DAB radio. The Ford Focus has had it as standard since 2012 ffs.

That options thing, and the prices they charge for some of them, is crackers. But whilst customers keep paying...

It has Nav and DAB as standard, along with sound package plus (DSP) and Connect Plus which gives you a 4G sim and access to all the online stuff including live traffic. £50k is a lot of money, but when a 4 cylinder Golf or A3 costs £40k with a couple of options, maybe it's not quite so ridiculous.

I'd never part with that much for something without an engine that made any journey, however non-dramatic, a bit of an event.

Perhaps the chaps from Pistonheads didn't tune it in correctly then as they definitely claimed that it was FM only.

Depends on how old the car was, I don't think it was standard from day 1.

Indeed, but then I'm way out of touch with what anything new and interesting costs these days.
I suppose 4 pots are the inevitable result of downsizing and benefit in kind rates. Plus list price has less relevance to most in these lease / PCP times. Looking at the power and torque delivery figures for that 300hp 4 pot Jag, I also suspect it might be a better every day engine than the base V6 (which I expect will disappear pretty son). The peak torque on the 4 pot is at way lower rpm, so more useable. I shall be beating myself with a stick later on for saying that, mind you.
And I guess there are 4 pot and then 4 pot engines. 300hp from a 4 pot is pretty amazing really. I think I read somewhere that it is more power than the original V12 XJS had.
