I didn't like the Evoque when it was first released - it seemed far too much a fashion accessory rather than a usable vehicle. I really like them now, especially in five doors in a bold colour.

"King Sleep", the new arrival: Had to park in the road when I got home from work and it was getting dark as I took these shots, so colour is not the best and there's a reasonable amount of digital noise. Plenty of black plastic at the bottom of the dors helps to disguise the height but it almost dwarfs GOK the Fiesta They're filthy Chris, have you thought about washing them?

There's something wrong with your eyes, the Kuga has been washed twice already in just 8 days.....

Surely that just means it's 6 washes short of where it should be at?

Had te V60 in for a two stage paint restoration yesterday. The paint was bright but covered in swirl marks a rough to the touch. Now it is properly smooth. I may have bought some "detailing products" to keep it that way.

Better picture of Chuggsie You were ahead of the curve with an S Type R. They must just have become desirable as Autocar ran a buying second hand article this week. Is yours a pre or post tax-hike?

I deliberately sought an x204 that was registered before 23rd March 2006 (mine is a Dec 2004)
X204 = second face lift introduced in late 2004 (redesigned rear end, aluminium bits and pieces)
S-type Rs are quite scarce in the UK, there are far more XJRs than S-type Rs (production figures for the UK below)
2002 - 520 were produced 2003 - 205 were produced 2004 - 107 were produced 2005 - 163 were produced 2006 - 147 were produced 2007 - 129 were produced

Had a busy morning. Boxster washed and cleaned inside, including cleaning all the leather with Dr Leather. Same with the BMW, plus full clay bar and then applied Bilt Hamber Double wax, which is the first time I've used it. It was bought because it's pretty highly rated and I really like their other products that I use regularly and I'm impressed so far, will be interesting to see how long it lasts. I was amazed by how much the clay bar cleaned off, it's the first time I've done it on this car, but it's kept pretty clean and regularly polished. It looks fantastic now, with a really deep shine and sparkle, which unfortunately the picture doesn't quite capture. The interior is a good example of how you can keep it looking like new without huge effort. It doesn't quite look like it in the picture, but the seats and steering wheel have a nice, almost new matt finish and the bolsters are perfect you wouldn't know it had done nearly 65,000 miles.

Just initials. No mis-spaced letters, not trying to look like a word, not a word, nothing to do with a/the car, not my name, not bought to hide the cars age (makes it look older if anything)...etc. I like it, which is really all that matters. Even if you think just buying a plate is gittish, they are a long way down the forum ranking!

^^^ [Panto Mode] Oh no you didn't /[Panto Mode] So it's F1 M (something) C, and (letter) (number or numbers) LCC by the looks of it. Some would say that 'F1' plates are straying towards gittishness... Winding you up of course. You like the plates, that's the main thing. I still like mine.

Although I like a giggle at obviously gittish plates, that really is the main thing isn't it? Nearly as important as loving the car it's on! My plate I don't consider gittish in the least, nor is the one I bought for my daughter (well, maybe a teeny bit, but it's a little bit clever too I like to think!) Each to their own though; never really got the hate for so-called private plates.

It doesn't quite look like it in the picture, but the seats and steering wheel have a nice, almost new matt finish and the bolsters are perfect you wouldn't know it had done nearly 65,000 miles. The matt finish is almost definitely down to the DR Leather wipes you use (and your fastidious cleaning regime!) - they remove all the oils the hands put on the steering wheel and all the ingrained dirt which gets on the seats. My wife's A5 had a shiny steering wheel when she got it, with less than 25K on the clock - often caused by female drivers who use hand moisturiser. A few gentle applications of DR Leather wipes and I have managed to restore the matt finish. Also nothing wrong with a plate which has your initials on it.

The ol' boy still gleams after a good wash and polish. Hosed down to remove surface dirt and dust then washed with Autoglym shampoo, chamoised (sp), then polished with Autoglym Super Resin and then Autoglym Gloss Protector applied. Windows polished using Autoglym glass polish and alloys cleaned with some cheap shit I wish I hadn't bought now as it doesn't really do a good job of removing the more ingrained brake dust, whole car gently buffed with some Marigold microfibre clothes (I bought a 4 pack from Wilko's for £1.50 and they are the best I've used...no fluff/fuzz when using, really soft, so good I bought some more yesterday as I'd rather replace dirty clothes for new ones instead of putting them in the washing machine and for 30 bob who can complain). Interior carpets hoovered and shampoo'd and leather upholstery cleaner applied with a rubber and vinyl polish lightly added to the dash and door cards. I'll try and get a good pic of the interior which is spotless and shows no sign of wear apart from very very minor bobbling on the alcantara seat upholstery on the drivers seat. Sadly, it was lightly pranged whilst parked a few weeks back, nothing major, but it has removed paint from the o/s front bumper side and put a 6 inch crease in the bodywork above the bumper which isn't instantly noticeable. I was furious, as any the follow my on Instagram will testify but I don't know and I can't prove who's done it nor will pursue a claim with my insurance, sadly as is nearly always the way, I'll have to fork out to get a smart repairer to pull out the crease and touch up the paint when I can afford it at my cost and not that arsehole that couldn't drive properly. Thankfully the paint loss is on a plastic bumper so no rust to worry about setting in. 86 and bit thousand miles and despite the nuggety ride over broken surfaces and a slightly whiny wheel bearing on the o/s rear all is well and sounds and runs wayyyyyyyyyy better now I've had minor work done to clean out the EGR and replace the faulty oil thermostat which has meant the engine is running much more efficiently. On a gentle run down the M1 to Northampton at the weekend, at a steady 50mph through the works and average speed cameras and then pootling at 70 the trip computer was nudging 70mpg, I did give it a little boot on the hurry up pedal on the sweepy A-roads but an ave. 56mpg for the trip impressed. I did have one running repair to do last week...the air con packed up. Got in the car after work and pressed the air-con button after a few minutes after starting and no cool air (climate temp control on LO (15.5). Expecting the usual icy blast all I got was warm air, in fact it was cooler with the air-con off. So visit to the garage diagnosed a leaky air-con rad (the condenser), so good replacement condenser fitted with top up of fluids, gasses and pressure test, plus 2 hours labour (they had to remove the front of the car) come to £290. All is back to arctic breeze as it should be. Having climate air-con seats did help on the journey home though. Comes with having a nearly 12 year old car, but I know I have the reassurance that despite all the work done recently and the money I have paid out that all the parts have made an already excellent car into a better one which will now continue to provide many more thousands of miles and even a car costing 7-8 thousand pounds more would do no more a job than this. 500 litre boot, plenty of kit, comfy and a smile inducing whack of torque makes me want to look after this car even more. And to my eyes at least I still think it looks great. Click on the pic and load the full resolution for the best view
