Trump? Or the adults in his administration? Whatever, after the ineffectual Obama policies where the NKs were not talking and just developing their weapons at a pace, at least we now have a line of dialogue reopened. The NKs just ignored the US - that's more difficult now.

The NKs only stopped comms 2 years ago so they were actually talking for 7 years of the Obama administration.
I think they've just re-established contact for the comedy it'll provide them.

I’m with Bob. Just because the POTUS is a bit of a dick if his advisors achieve the things he said during the running in 2016 and globally addresses things he said he’d address what’s the problem? We had a reasonable PM that promised to have an EU referendum and he had one. He then left us with a pile of shite because the outcome of the referendum wasn’t what he wanted.
We can’t vote for the POTUS, we can’t get our Senators or Congressmen to pressurise him so even if he’s got his huge button next to his bed and he accidentally presses it when the alarm goes off there’s nothing we could or can do about it.

I'm led to understand that Trump has claimed credit for all sorts of things recently, including the fact that there were no airliner crashes in the whole of 2017. Not quite sure how he thinks he's influenced that exactly, especially as some of his policies have presumably led to extra trips being required?
Not quite true, there were allegedly no commercial plane crashes in 2017 that killed passengers. There were plane crashes (example: the Emirates plane that failed to "go around" on attempting to land in Dubai IIRC), military plane crashes etc, but no passenger deaths on a commercial flight as a result of an unplanned (or planned) contact with the ground....

Apparently it's covered in detail in this new book that he doesn't like!
Chris, I thought my reference to airliner crashes sort of covered that

In respect of the latest news about North Korea and the meeting of the two Premieres, the rhetoric coming from Washington in the last couple of weeks hasn't been very conciliatory and they were given a clear warning about their approach last week after John Bolton's comments re the Libya model.
I find it hard to see the US as anything other than the cause of the latest breakdown in relations but while I'm sure Trump is patting himself on the back that he called the meeting off immediately after reports the NK had destroyed their nuclear testing tunnel I'm sure they're actually better at this kind of manoeuvering than he is.
So I imagine we'll have several weeks of bullying tweets from Trump and retaliatory threats from Pyongyang ahead of us.
I really think the US, lead by Trump, have made the world a much less pleasant place and I worry that we still scurry along behind them while they increasingly don't give a shit about us and the so-called special relationship.
Perhaps the next royal wedding should be to someone from a potential future special relationship country. Chinese, anyone?

I'm currently a couple of miles from POTUS's front door and there's not much talk of him on the news here, and I've not heard and DC residents kicking up much of a fuss about him. Am planning on visiting the White House Visitor Center on Friday .......
EDIT: What I can say already is that, if you like museums and American history, I can thoroughly recommend DC as a place to visit. Apparently, after Government Business, tourism is the second most popular reason that people visit DC.
Oh, and I picked a great time to visit weather-wise........

BMW are npw making X5s in Thailand for export to China Previously these would've been built in Spartanburg, USA.
Clearly his policies are working!

Did anyone watch his press conference a couple of days ago - the one where he had the argument with the guy from CNN?
If he wasn't the President of the US it would've been funny.
There were several occasions during his initial 25 minute monologue where he rambled off onto a different subject and watching it reminded me of a Billy Connolly stand-up routine but without the point or the humour.
I don't think the 'altercation' with the CNN guy was anything abnormal either, he just wouldn't sit down and shut up after his question but instead tried a follow up on an awkward subject (the Russia thing). Nothing unexpected in that and its what journalists have done for decades and is identical to what politicians do when getting interviewed.
He'll be gutted that the latest shooting wasn't by a Democrat sponsored illegal immigrant either.......
