They have a pleasing rally-rep look about them with the big wheelarches - definitely not a normal Yaris!

The roof is apparently lowered 20mm for the GR version. I'll need to park beside a normal one to check

Looks good Tim. Love small cars that are designed for fun and the GR is a great example of that. Dark Helmet exists…

Still love my black GR Yaris Circuit Pack, had it since June 2021 and have done more 12,000 miles in it now. It gets the most use of my three cars. While neither the seating position nor the forward view is perfect, the car's character more than makes up for these small flaws. It's such a hoot to drive and it covers the ground really quickly in the real world, in all weathers, should the mood take you.
While I deeply appreciate all three of my cars, the M3 would go before the Yaris did. And maybe the Cayman would go before the Yaris too...

Hasthe M3 had any nasty suprises over the years? There are tales of E9X M3's both good and bad all over t'internet.... I think its a crying shame that engine didn't end up in anything else (like a Z4 coupe - yum!)

We went to St Andrews yesterday, dawdled in Sunday traffic for most of it and got 37.1mpg for the trip there (only about 12 miles in total though) which is nearly 10 more than I've been getting

Hasthe M3 had any nasty suprises over the years? There are tales of E9X M3's both good and bad all over t'internet.... I think its a crying shame that engine didn't end up in anything else (like a Z4 coupe - yum!) The M3 has been pretty reliable over the years (15 and a half now!) and 90k-plus miles. That said, currently it's in with BMW for some suspension refresh work, and they cannot get the relevant parts for several weeks. They need to make some more of the parts in Germany! I won't have the car back until mid-November as a consequence, they've had it since late September and won't let me have it back because it's unsafe in its current state. I drive the other two cars a bit more assertively (if you know what I mean) because they are lighter and more nimble and I can therefore brake later and corner harder in them. Whereas with the M3 I either tend to drive it slow in/fast out, or maintain quick progress by being smooth and lifting/squeezing through corners on the power rather than hustling the car through them. Driven thus, the M3 covers the ground at a very good rate and in a satisfying manner without placing too much stress on the mechanicals. And the main dealer in Cheltenham has been very reasonable when it comes to offering discounts on parts and labour, so I've kept the car in the dealer network the whole time so far. Enjoy getting to know the Yaris, Tim!

The Yaris looks very mean. Do Toyota not make that shade of Blue I can see the sense in a full main dealer SH if you like them. I know someone that had the rear subframe replaced under warranty on a >12 year old Mercedes recently (a W204 estate - for rust, a known thing) because he had a full MBSH with it. Anyone without a full history is paying for it - £3-4k...

That's a lovely fleet.
How are you doing for tyre wear on the Yaris Dan? I had enquired pre-purchase if there was a requirement to replace all four at the same time (from xDrive experience) but they weren't sure and I haven't really looked on the forums yet to see.

Irritating. 3 days after I picked the car up I got a chip in the windscreen. Last night I heard a slight crunch while reversing out of a space at Tescos, never thought anything of it but then heard a ticking. Turns out I reversed over a key fob, the crunch was it breaking and the ticking noise was the thick end of the metal bit of key catching on the road due to the pointy end being embedded in the tyre. I got home ok but could hear the air coming out. I suspect a key through the carcass might mean the end of that tyre so 2 Conti 7s have been ordered for home fitting on Monday. I hope that this isn't going to be an unlucky car and also that things don't happen in 3s because I could imagine where that would head

However does this mean you have driven off with someone else's key or was it your own?

Definitely someone else's so I imagine their day ended up worse than mine. It must've been a car key as the sound I heard would've been the plastic fob breaking.

That's really irritating. I hope you have better luck with the windscreen that I did or is the chip small enough to be repaired?

I haven't checked the windscreen situation properly yet.
For the tyre I thought about using the repair stuff so I could drive somewhere to get the tyre repaired or replaced sooner but there's a danger it could mess up the TPMS which would then result in further expense, and possibly a trip to Toyota to get it coded to the car, so I'm being patient.
I'm not having a good time with flat tyres. My brother-in-law's Mk5 Golf GTI has been on the drive for a few weeks and developed a slowish puncture on the way here. The M5 has acquired a flat tyre in the last 2 weeks despite not moving for about a month.

I had a slow puncture recently - it alerted me on the way to work and I discovered a screw in the tyre when I parked up. Fortunately, I was able to phone a local guy who came out and carried out a repair for £25. It seems to be holding fine. I declined to phone BMW assist as they just come out, drill out the puncture and carry out a temporary repair that means the tyre, or in this case, both tyres on the same axle, need to be replaced.
